Intel® Management Engine(ME) Firmware update Procedure

This utility updates ME firmware.


Please read this document carefully before using the utility.

1 Model names to be updated

Confirm your computer is one of the following models.


The model name is located on the bottom of your computer.

Target models File name of packaged program New ME ver.


CF-SV8Rxxxxx
CF-LV8Rxxxxx ME_12_0_71_1681_Corporate.exe 12.0.71.1681
FZ-55[A/B/C]xxxxxx

2 CAUTION:
 Log on to Windows as an administrator.
 Connect the AC adaptor and the battery pack (Must be 50% charged and more), do not
remove them until ME update is completed.
 Back up important data to other media or an external hard disk before ME update.
 Suspend BitLocker if BitLocker is used.

3 Procedure

3.1 Confirm the ME version

(1) Execute PC Information Viewer.


Click Windows icon on the task bar or press Windows button.
Click "Panasonic PC Settings Utility".
Click “Support”.
Click “System”.
Click “Launch PC Information Viewer”.
(2) Select the [Setup] tab. Check the ME version from item of “Intel(R) ME Firmware”.
(3) Confirm the ME version is older than “New ME version” which is listed on the above
table. If the current ME version is same or newer than “NEW ME version”, ME update is
not necessary.

3.2 Preparing the ME update program

(1) Turn on the computer and log on to Windows as an administrator.


(2) Download “ME_12_0_71_1681_Corporate.exe” listed on the above table and run it.
(3) Click [Yes] at the User Access Control screen when it is displayed.
(4) Read the license agreement carefully, and click [Yes].
(5) The screen to specify the destination location appears. The default location is
“c:\biosup\ME_12_0_71_1681_Corporate”. Specify your location and click [OK]. (You
usually don’t need to change the location.)
(6) Wait until the destination folder is displayed.

3.3 Execute the ME update program

(1) Right click PcOemMe.inf file icon and left click “install”.
(2) Click [Yes] at the User Access Control screen when it is displayed.
(3) Please restart the computer. At next restart, ME update will begin on “Panasonic Logo
screen”. Wait until Windows starts up again.
(4) Confirm the ME version is updated to “New ME version” on the above table in PC
Information Viewer. (Refer to procedure 3.1)
