Whitney Houston

Her full name is Whitney Elizabeth Houston, she was born on August 9, 1963, she was an
American actress and singer. Known as “The Voice” is the most awarded female artist of all
time according to the Guinness Book of Records with two Emmy Awards, six Grammy
Awards, thirty Billboard Music Awards and twenty-two American Music Awards, with a total of
411 prizes won up to 2016.

She is also one of the world's best-selling music artists: more than 170 million albums, singles
and videos.

Her mother was Cissy Houston, who involved her in music. At the age of 11 she began her
musical training in the children's choir of a church in New Jersey, but her talent was
discovered later by Clive Davis, president of the Arista Records label, at the time when he
used to sing along with his mother in nightclubs in New York.

She was one of the first black women to grace the cover of Seventeen after becoming a teen
model in 1981.

Houston rose to fame in 1985 with her album Whitney Houston, which, selling more than 13
million copies in the United States, plus several million more abroad, became the best-selling
debut album of a soloist performer in history.4 In 1987, he released his second studio álbum

In 1992, Houston married singer Bobby Brown and made her film debut in The Bodyguard;
the film featured her rendition of Dolly Parton's "I'll Always Love You", which stayed at
number one for 14 weeks

She has released 7 studio albums, 3 soundtracks, several compilations, and 53 singles, 11 of
which were #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Most notable is "I Will Always Love You", released in November 1992, which became the
best-selling single by a female artist with more than 45 million copies sold as of 2012.

Death

On February 9, 2012, he met with singers Brandy Norwood and Monica Arnold, along with
their producer Clive Davis, to perform their rehearsals for the 2012 Grammy Awards pre-
party. That same day, he gave his last public performance, when joined Kelly Price on stage
and they sang "Jesus Loves Me" together at the party, which was their last public
performance. Two days later, on February 11, 2012, she died at the age of 48 in a hotel in
Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, in what was initially classified as a death from unknown causes.
She was found dead in the bathtub of the hotel room. where he was staying

Houston had a gospel funeral with a large, private ceremony on February 18 at 12 noon ET at
New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.
