TIME MACHINE

THE PLOT
One evening in Richmond, London in 1895, the speaker ( wasn’t given a name ) and
his friends went to a home of a brilliant scientist to have dinner as usual. The
scientist known as the time traveller wanted to share his newest invention with the
others. He first showed them a miniature of it and after that, he showed them the not
yet finished time machine. It was quite fascinating to look at. The others didn’t
believe the time traveller but he wanted to prove them wrong. They all went to eat
dinner and he went to finish and use his machine. He told them that he’ll be back and
went to the future. Soon after, he found himself in the future London and wanted to
explore it. He soon learned that the people called Eloi can’t understand him and that
his time machine was stuck under a statue. He wanted to learn their language but he
wasn’t as fortunate. Fortunately, he was able to remember a few words. The Eloi
were friendly and let him eat with them. He was wondering where were other
inhabitants of London as the Eloi seemed as children to him. He was curious and
while he was taking a stroll, he found a well-like structure that had strange noises.
He later saw an Eloi woman that was drowning in the river. He decided to save her
and so he did. He learned that her name was Weena. They became friends. He
wanted to explore the place and went to the well with Weena. Weena was afraid to
go in so he went alone. Down the well were shadowy creatures called the Morlocks.
They were afraid of the light and bloodthirsty. They chased the traveller and made
him leave. He then discovered that they are very lively during the night so he
decided to go on the run with Weena. Along their trip, the traveller learned a lot
more Eloi from Weena. He decided they will go to a palace that was over the horizon.
It was a long trip but they made it. The green palace had interesting artifacts from
the future and even our time. The traveller found a metal pole to defend himself
from the incoming Morlocks that were coming for them. When the night came, a
large horde of Morlocks attacked them but they knew it was coming. The traveller
fended of against a lot of them but it was too much for him alone. He figured that the
Morlocks are afraid of fire as it is a light source but a single match wouldn’t last long
so he decided to put the forest on fire. It worked, the Morlocks ran away or were
consumed in the fire but unfortunately Weena was lost. The fire lasted until dawn
and when it was over, the traveller decided to leave this interesting but sad reality of
the future. He succesfully freed his machine from under the statue and went even
further into the future. It was worse than he could have imagined. There was a giant
red sun in the red sky and giant versions of our ordinary and small animals such as
flies and crabs. He then slowly went from the future to the very present that he was
in and told all of his guests his interesting tale of his travels. As said before, they
didn’t believe him but there was someone that paid attention to him. The speaker
confronted the time traveller the other day and wanted to see the machine in
working order. The traveller went to travel again and all the speaker could see was a
flashing image of the machine and a ghostly reflection of the traveller. He was then
wondering where he could have gone and was anticipating another interesting and
fascinating story of the past/future.
What I liked about the story
I liked the perspective of the future that might be inevitable
to us.
