Itis your responsibility to bring and use your own safety equipment for every class, which includes protective cups, mouthguards, helmets, MMA gloves, knee pads, shin guards and focus mitts. 3. Hf you don’t have a partner, observe the training until it is your tum. 4. Do not deviate from an assignment and randomly engage in impromptu training. 5. All ground grappling, must be on mat with 3-foot clearance of a wall, never on the bare floor. 6. Do not grapple or spar without Sifu or a Sihing present to observe. 7. Alltakedowns and sweeps must be executed with control, Do not slam your opponent onto the ground. 8. No swift submissions — always allow your partner to have enough time to physically and/or verbally tapout. 9. No small joint locks or manipulation. 10. Strikes must be delivered with controlled power, Power without control is nothing. 11. All strikes must keep a 3-inch distance from your partner. 12, Strikes and targets are: fist on body, Fat Sao on the side of neck, palm on the side of jaw, and elbow on the shoulder. No finger jabs are allowed (unless goggles are ‘wom by both partners), 13. All strikes must avoid vulnerable areas like eye, nose, mouth, Adam’s apple, ear, and groin (unless helmets, throat guards, and protective cups are worn). 14. Striking with ground grappling must be executed with control. 15. No kicking to the head. Learning opportunities: 1. After you defeat your partner, you must take the time and explain how that technique ‘was done and allow him try it on you. Emphasize that this is not about “winning”, but learning. 2. Ifa partner uses too much power and not enough control, fell them. Have a discussion about “percentages of power”, which can be trained with a focus mitt on the chest and increments of 10% power. 3. Do not be impatient if you do not have a partner. While observing the technique, think about how you can apply it, or even improve it. 4. Try practicing self-defense, not offense. Relax, flow, and watch opportunities open, Rushing is for football, not Wing Chun, 5. If you don’t understand, ask. If you know the answer, teach.
