Acute Pain (Abdominal)

1. The patient is a 23 year old single male who presented with abdominal pain. His vital signs were monitored and a comprehensive pain assessment was conducted. 2. The nursing diagnosis is acute pain related to abdominal stimuli as evidenced by reports of pain rated at 6 out of 10. Goals are to reduce the pain rating to 2 out of 10 or less by discharge through medication, dietary assessment, bowel assessment, and positioning for comfort. 3. Evaluation after 8 hours of nursing intervention will assess if goals were met by checking the pain rating and monitoring vital signs and bowel patterns.
