programs that might be needed when referring students for special services. It is important to begin the
year with ideas for a record keeping system that will be manageable for teachers and their students.
Maintaining Student Records
One of your essential duties as a teacher is to maintain student records. Academic performance records,
such as grades and report cards, provide insight about student progress and help parents and teachers
make important decisions regarding students' learning needs. Attendance records help teachers and
school staff maintain accountability for students' safety. Behavior records are useful for parent-teacher
conferences and disciplinary meetings. Let's look at these three main types of records in more detail.6.
Why there is need to have all examination records? • Record keeping tracks students’ progress and
provides evidence to support grading decisions. Developing good record-keeping habits is essential for
organizing, processing, and communicating the students understanding of the curriculum. Regardless of
the strategy, experienced teachers have established routines and procedures for keeping accurate and
detailed records of their student's progress. These records they maintain include as well as more formal
records, such as test scores.

to enhance their pedagogy methods.

register. The class teacher should exercise great certain entering the marks. The signature of the
headmaster should also be obtained in this register after every examination.

progress. Keep all formal assessments in the students' assessment folders. Record assessment scores on
the cover of each folder for easy access. Use assessment folders in conferences and during a referral
process. Maintain these folders yourself; the contents are confidential. Have assessment folders
accessible to administrators for review upon resulting in examination record.
10. Checklists • Checklists are an easy way to record scores, behavior, effort, and participation—all of
which are part of the feedback provided on report cards or progress reports.
