HINDI MENTAL STATUS EXAMINATION (HMSE)

Orientation
Time( score 1 for each. Max 5)
1. Is it morning or afternoon or evening?
2. What day of the week is it today?
3. What date is it today?
4. Which month is it today?
5. What season of the year is this?
Place ( score 1 for each. Max 5)
6. Which village is this?
7. Under which post office does your village come?
8. Which district does your village fall under?
9. Which block (if village has only blocks) OR
Which numbered area is this?
10. Which place is this (house or hospital)?

Registration ( score 1 for each. Max 3)


11. I went to Delhi and brought three things- mango,
chair and coin. Can you tell me what are the three
things I brought from Delhi?

Attention & Calculation ( score 1 for each. Max 5)


12. (a) Now can you tell me the names of the days of the
week starting from Sunday?
(b) Now can you tell me the names of the days
backwards?
Or
(c) serial 3 subtraction from 20( five times)

Recall ( score 1 for each. Max 3)


13 What are the names of the three things, which I told
you I have brought back from Delhi?

Naming ( score 1 for each. Max 2)


15. Show the subject the wrist watch and pen and ask
Can you name these objects?

16. Now I am going to say something, listen carefully
