Chapter Name: Mahram (The prohibited degrees of female relations)
Answer the following Questions
Q:1 Write ayah and hadith about the Importance of kins in Islam.
Ans: 1- “Would you then, if you were given the authority, do mischief in the
land, and sever your ties of kinship?”
2- The bond of relationship is suspending from the Throne, and says: `He who
keeps good relations with me, Allah will keep connection with him, but
whosoever severs relations with me, Allah will sever connection with him".[Al-
Bukhari and Muslim].
Q2: How many Prohibited degrees of female are there? Explain in detail.
Ans: Forbidden women are of two types.
1- Women permanently forbidden
 Kinship
 Foster mother
 Marriage relationship
2- Women temporarily forbidden
 To avoid bringing them together in a wedlock at one time.
 Forbidden for some temporary cause.
Q3: What is the wisdom behind forbidding marriage because of kinship.
Ans: Sound human nature refuses this marriage and rejects it.
So that the ties of blood (uterine relations) which are intended to endure shall
not be severed or undermines. Islam wanted the relation with forbidden women
to be one of care, kindness, respect and appreciation because of kinship . Marital
differences may corrupt this relationship.
Spread of hereditary diseases and disabilities which are focused and become
inherent in the progeny. On the other hand, marriage to women who are not
forbidden because of kinship renews the vitality of generations and their
hereditary dispositions.
Q4: Write the types of women forbidden because of kinship.
1. Ans: The origins (usul)of the man: mother and grandmother even from an
earlier generation.
2. The branches of the man: the daughter, the son’s daughter and the
daughter’s daughter even if she is much further down progeny.
3. Real sisters and step sisters from father’s side and step sisters from
mother’s side.
4. Paternal aunts.
5. Maternal aunts.
6. Brother’s daughter.
7. Sister’s daughter.
Q5: Who are the women forbidden because of marriage relationship?
Ans: The wife of the father (step mother) and the grandfather even if it is
generations back.
The wife of the son, the wife of the grandson, even if they are a much further
down progeny.
The wife’s mother and grandmother. (These becomes forbidden as soon as the
marriage is contracted)
A woman who is only forbidden by consummation of marriage; this is the wife’s
daughter, who is called step-daughter.

completing her iddah, Khalid married her and they were born Abdullah and
Khawla. Ali is the son of Khalid from his second wife Momina:
