0, a revolution that requires
technology and national strategies

ABSTRACT: -
The concept of Industry 4.0 was introduced in 2011 which
had similar features to that of the industry 3.0 revolution in
the 1970s except that the features of industry 4.0 also
included Industrial IOT (Internet of things) and automations
of machines and other industrial equipment. By now, most of
the developing countries like the United Kingdom, Italy,
Portugal, Germany etc. to name a few have adapted the
concept of Industry 4.0.
INTRODUCTION: -
Since the beginning of the first industrial revolution in the
1700s, the technologies and the approach towards industrial
development has had a tremendous change. These changes
have not only helped make the automation of industries
easier but also act as a driving force for establishment of
emerging technology. Hence, we can say industry 4.0 has
introduced the following push in technology:
• more extensive use of mechanization and automation;
• digitalization and networks linking all components within
the industry;
• revolutionary miniaturization which has made a significant
impact on electronics, transportation and logistics.
All thanks to the German Government, Industry 4.0 and its
concepts haver definitely made human work easier.
The nine pillars of Industry 4.0 include: -
1. Cyber physical systems
2. Internet of things
3. Big data and data analytics
4. Cloud and information technology
5. 3D printing
6. Robots and automated machinery
7. Simulation
8. Portable devices
9. Augmented reality
Two of the topics that can be briefly taken up are as follows: -
1. 3D printing:
Construction of various complicated geometries of structures
utilizing metal or plastic is made possible by 3D printing, which
is officially referred to as additive manufacturing in Industry 4.0
parlance. It has garnered more investment in recent years. The
market for 3D printing is anticipated to reach $32.78 billion in
value by 2023. Customized products are expected to rise in
popularity, and 3D printing is the best method for doing so
because it's flexible and quick at making small quantities. The
automotive and aerospace sectors particularly benefit from it
because it also lessens waste and component weight. Other
times, 3D printing enables flexible manufacturing sites, lessens
transportation costs, and increases stock on hand.
