IN-SERVICE TRAINING
A Narrative Report

Olo Elementary School teachers conducted In-Service Training (INSET) in All Subject
Areas last October 22-26, 2018. The 5-day INSET was focused in introducing overview of the
Multi-Factored Assessment Tool (MFAT); discussing concepts of fractions and integers involving
the four fundamental operations and teaching strategies in teaching the lessons;
constructing/making instructional materials in Mathematics; enumerating the 150 Teaching
Strategies and addressing stress management; discussing makabago at napapanahong pagtuturo
sa Filipino and eksplisit na pagtuturo ng di-gaanong nalinang na mga kasanayan sa Filipino;
explaining duties and responsibilities of master teachers and teachers I-III, and preparation of
RPMS Portfolio; familiarizing with National Asset Registry System (NARS); orienting teachers
on the Child Protection Policy including some DepEd Orders; and showing demonstration
teaching in Science and Mathematics.

Before the session proper of the 5-day In-Service Training, it was indeed formally started
by singing of the National Anthem, Doxology, and Provincial Hymn through audio-visual
presentation. Afterward, there were energizer and recapitulation of the activities done for the last
meeting.
On the first day, our very own active head teacher III, Mr. Ramon B. Pascua, delivered his
warmest welcome address. Our beloved monitoring district supervisor, Dr. Ligaya C. Tacbi, gave
her message. Mr. Danilo E. Garlit entertained the participants by showing his prowess in singing.
An orientation for this 5-day training was done by Mrs. Terry C. Dela Rosa, the Co-Chairman of
Technical Committee. The first discussant was Mrs. Josie C. Ramos, Teacher III. She oriented us
on the MFAT Manual. Mrs. Michelle A. Panit introduced some ways on assessing learners
through the following actions: Let’s Talk, Treasure Box, My Daily Routine. Whether Weather and
Work of Hands was presented by Ms. Elma T. Espino. Mrs. Josie C. Ramos introduced her topic
Let’s Get Physical through some movements or gestures to assess if the learner belongs to the red
flag. These were the topics assigned and discussed by the resource speakers for Day 1.

October 23, 2018 – second day of the training, Mrs. Jennifer C. Nelvis stated recapitulation
on what had been done during the first day. After which, Mr. Danilo E. Garlit, Teacher II,
provided some sorts of information regarding Concepts of Fractions and Strategies in Teaching the
Lesson. In regards with Concepts of Statistics, Mrs. Terry C. Dela Rosa, Teacher III, highlighted
this topic. Mrs. Irish Ann M. Gallardo gave a lecture on Decimals including the Four Fundamental
Operations. To make teaching-learning process more effective, we need to use instructional
materials. This was the reason why Mrs. Mrs. Lani B. Caragay led us in making some
instructional materials in Mathematics using paper strips. The topics were very exciting and
motivating because we learned a lot. Dance zumba served as our energizer.

On the third day, Mrs. Lani B. Caragay read her recapitulation for the second day. Mrs.
Luningning A. Sanchez shared her knowledge and enumerated the 150 Teaching Strategies that
we could probably apply in teaching our lesson. She also emphasized on how to handle and
manage stress. Makabago at Napapanahong Pagtuturo ng Filipino and Eksplisit na Pagtuturo ng
Di-Gaanong Nalinang na mga Kasanayan sa Filipino were discussed by Mr. Julius P. Collado,
School Filipino Coordinator. These were the topics tackled on that day.

The fourth day of INSET had come, Mrs. Irish Ann M. Gallardo stated recapitulation on
what had been done during the third day. To refresh our minds on the duties and responsibilities of
master teachers and teachers, Mr. Ramon B. Pascua, our head teacher elaborated and explained
those that we need to comply as teachers. He also gave us idea on the preparation of RPMS
portfolio. Mrs. Richele V. Quitil, Property Custodian familiarized the participants on the National
Asset Registry System (NARS) for which we should update and record all the properties of school
even these are donated, or from DepEd. Orientation on Child Protection Policy including some
Deped Orders regarding CPP was discussed and enumerated by Mr. Julius P. Collado.

October 26, 2018, the last day of INSET. Recapitulation was done by Mrs. Elizabeth E.
Pulido. Mrs. Luzviminda U. Iglesias showed her demonstration teaching skill in Science, followed
by Mr. Danilo E. Garlit in Mathematics subject. Teachers prepared some of the Instructional
Materials to be used for the second semester.

Teacher-participants presented their outputs, gave their reflections and impressions

through singing, and received their certificate of participation. A closing remarks was delivered by
Mr. Julius P. Collado, Chairman of Planning Committee. He congratulated and extended thanks to
those who exerted efforts and time to make the INSET successful.
