Goal:
                                                                  Creativity and Innovation
Your task is to present the concept of different architectural
structures through a gallery and relate this topic to the Initiative and Self – Direction
concept of the conic sections. Social and Cross-Cultural Skills
Role:
You are an architect
Audience:
The target audience is the viewers in your gallery.
Situation:
As an architect, you are task to explore how conic sections are applied in different architectural
structures. These are structures whose cross-sections take the form of conic sections, such as
circular domes, parabolic arches, elliptical towers, and hyperbolic structures. You will present
these in a gallery.
Product, Performance, and Purpose:
Form a group with 10 members per group. You will research architectures structures whose cross-
sections take the form of circles, parabolas, ellipses, and hyperbolas. You should produce model
for presentations in the gallery of conic sections. These models include:
• pictures of architectural structures whose cross-sections are circles, parabolas, ellipses, and
hyperbolas
• explanation of how conic sections are applied in these architectural structures
 • You should also prepare a summarized copy of the research (long bondpaper) that you have
done in producing your model. At the end of each unit, each group is expected to present their
model about the given topic in a gallery. Please follow the format below for the cover page of the
summary of your research.
