The place where Adam and Eve lived was called The
Garden of Eden. In the middle of this garden was a
special tree. This tree was called the Tree of
Knowledge of Good and Evil.
God told Adam and Eve that they could eat the fruit
from all the trees in the garden except for this one.
“Do not eat from the Tree of Knowledge,” God said,
“If you do, you will die.”

But one day, a snake slithered down from the tree and
talked to Eve.
“Why not eat the fruit from this tree?” it asked.
“Then you will as wise as God.”
Eve listened to the snake and then picked a fruit from
the Tree of Knowledge. She gave Adam a piece of the
fruit too and he ate it as well.

Instead of being happy, Adam and Eve were sad
because they knew they had disobeyed God. God saw
what they had done and no longer trusted them to stay
in the Garden of Eden.
God sent an angel to guard the Garden so that they
couldn’t return.
