Government sector:
"All departments, offices and other bodies which furnish but
normally do not sell to the community those common
services, other than higher education, which cannot
otherwise be conveniently and economically provided and
administer the state and the economic and social policy of
the community.
Government-owned companies such as Hydro-Quebec or the
Society des alcohols du Quebec are regarded as commercial
businesses and included in the business enterprise sector.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
AND LIC
LIC has been one of the pioneering
organizations in India who introduced the
leverage of Information Technology in
servicing and in their business. Data pertaining
to almost 10 crore policies is being held on
computers in LIC. We have gone in for relevant
and appropriate technology over the years.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

FACTS &FINDING
We went to LIC OFFICE to collect data about use of IT in your
organization. MR. S.K. DANODIA (The programmer in LIC)
helps us and provides us useful data regarding our project.

Use of computers: - for 15 years.
Benefits: - fast processing and up to date data
He told us that the head office of LIC is situated at Mumbai
and northern zone in Delhi.
He told us that they take information from private detective and
manage their information technology.
All 7 Zonal Offices and all the MAN centers are connected
through a Wide Area Network (WAN). This will enable a
customer to view his policy data and pay premium from
any branch of any MAN city. As at November 2005, we
have 91 centers in India with more than 2035.

Conclusion
Through using IT Service in govt.sector speed of work is
increased and performance is being better also.
Using IT services it is easy to keep records safe in comparison
