a. Intrapersonal Communication:
Intrapersonal communication can be defined as communication with one’s self, and that
may include self-talk, acts of imagination and visualization, and even recall and memory.
Communications expert Leonard Shedletsky examined intrapersonal communication
through the eight basic components of the communication process (i.e., source, receiver,
message, channel, feedback, environment, context, and interference) as transactional, but all
the interaction occurs within the individual.
Important Intrapersonal Communication
Intrapersonal skills are important because they often form the base of your relationships with
other people and help you manage how you interact in your own relationships. These skills
typically help you develop your emotional intelligence and how you communicate your wants
and needs
b. Interpersonal Communication:
Interpersonal communication involves the information, ideas, and feelings being
exchanged verbally or non-verbally between two or more people. Face-to-face
communication often involves hearing, seeing, and feeling body language, facial
expressions, and gestures.
In other terms, Interpersonal communication is exchanging information, meaning,
feelings, and opinions between two or more people via verbal and non-verbal
means.
Intrapersonal communication describes how we communicate with ourselves,
including an accurate idea of our perceptions, expectations, and concepts.
Scholars Definition:
Keith Davis: Communication is a process of passing information and
understanding from one person to another.
John Adair: Communication is essentially the ability of one person to make contact
with another and make himself or herself understood.
Important of Interpersonal communication:
Interpersonal communication skills can improve your personal and professional
relationships by helping you to express your thoughts and convey your intent
clearly. Additionally, you'll be more able to understand and empathise with others
due to your listening skills.
Purpose of Interpersonal communication:

c. Group Communication:
The term "group communication" refers to the messages that are exchanged by group
members. Group communication is the act of sending and receiving messages to multiple
members of a group. In a business environment, groups often use this type of communication
to exchange ideas, determine goals and motivate other members. Group communication is
important because it is through messages that groups make decisions, manage conflict, and
build the rapport that is necessary to keep the group going in difficult circumstances.
Importance of Group Communication:
It is important to understand that a collection becomes a group only when the members

Hold expectations over each other about participating in and belonging to the group,
Create identities for the group and its members, and
Influence each other and develop strategies and tactics to control each other and

d. Mass/Social Communication:
Mass communication is the act of a person or group of people relaying a message through
a channel of communication to the general public or a segment of the general public.
Television, radio, social media, and print media are common channels of communication.
Print media, outdoor media, media broadcasting, and digital media are different types of
Mass Communication. Through mass communication, information can be transmitted quickly
too many people who generally stay far away from the sources of information. Mass
communication is practiced multiple mediums, such as radio, television, social
networking, billboards, newspapers, magazines, books, film, and the Internet.

a. Verbal and Non-verbal:
Verbal communication is defined as communication to express our views, information,
and ideas in the form of sound and words. It is defined as the exchange of information with
the use of words, either spoken or written. The spoken part usually involves face-to-face
communication. Communication through radio, television, or mobile phones is also called
verbal communication. Effective verbal communication encompasses good relations at the
workspace and home.

Nonverbal communication (NVC) is the transmission of messages or signals through a
nonverbal platform such as eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, posture, and the distance
between two individuals. It is defined as the exchange of information without the use of
words. It includes the use of visual cues such as body language (kinesics), distance
(proxemics) and physical environments/appearance, of voice and of touch.

b. Written communication:
Written Communication involves expressing yourself clearly, using language with
precision; constructing a logical argument; note taking, editing and summarising; and writing
reports. Reports and e-mail are examples of written communication, written communication
is concerned with any type of message which involves written words. It is one of the most
effective modes of communication, but it takes more time.
Written communication is more precise and explicit. Effective written communication
develops and enhances an organization's image. It provides ready records and references.
Legal defences can depend upon written communication as it provides valid records. For
better communication the practice of writing makes you want to improve your vocabulary
and phrase better.
c. Numerical:
Numerical data is information that is something that is measurable. It is always collected
in number form. This form of communication involves the use of tables, statistics and graphs.
It can help the receiver to understand figures and statistics. It is however difficult to use on its
own, as misunderstanding can arise if it is not supported by a commentary.
d. Pictorial Communication:
This handbook uses symbols, pictures and simple words to help us when communicating

communication difficulties.

community.
