1 M All threaded connections on valve bodies and associated piping shall be seal welded.
Seal welding of all threaded joints up to the first block valve is required in the following
SAES-L-108, Sec.
services and applications. Refer to SAES-L-110 Sec. 9.2

2 Expansion joints and spring hangers or spring supports shall be provided with
temporary restraints where needed to prevent excessive travel or deformation under the
test loads. SAES-A-004, Sec.

Blind flanges, paddle blinds or spectacle blinds shall be used to isolate the test sections.
They shall be the same class rating of the system or may be fabricated from verifiable SAES-A-004, Sec.
3 identification of base material and approval of calculations by the Supervisor, CSD 5.13
Piping Unit.

All systems (piping and equipment) while being pressure tested shall be protected from SAES-A-004, Sec.
4 being over pressured. Refer to SAES-A-00 for requirements. 5.7

Check valves for all sizes NPS 4 inch and above, a turbulence-free minimum distance
of 5 pipe diameters upstream and 2 pipe diameters downstream of every check valve
SAES-L-108,
5 shall be maintained.
Section 6.3.4

Check valve is oriented in the wrong direction (flow arrow). Reverse check valve to
assure correct flow direction. Reposition valve & restore internals immediately after test,
6 COMPANY to witness.
REMINDER

A minimum clearance of 120 mm shall be provided between the above ground piping
and any structure including adjacent piping system.

Install permanent gaskets at flange sets 1, 4, 5, 6 on ISO dwgs per approved torque SAEP-351,
8 tables and install spectacle blinds oriented as per approved P&ID. Proj Dwgs
Completely remove all water and debris from low point/valve cavity for the (3) in-line
Valves (8" - 300 #) with SS 400 trim, do so immediately after test. Clean with dry SAES-A-007,
9 compressed air and relubricate sealing surfaces with mfg approved lubricant for ambient Para 8.4.2
lay-up of system.
