Reproductive Hormones

Hormones play an important role in the male and female reproductive systems. In males, testosterone helps sperm cells develop and helps develop secondary sex characteristics. Both males and females have estrogen, progesterone, and other hormones that impact development and function of the reproductive system. The hypothalamus and pituitary gland regulate hormone production and signaling in both males and females.

HYPOTHALAMUS
The seat of emotion. Regulator / regulator of the pituitary gland.
It will signal the anterior pituitary gland to release or inhibit the
secretion of reproductive stimulating hormone by releasing
GnRH (Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone).

PITUITARY GLAND
For reproductive system it releases (FSH) Follicle Stimulating
Hormone and (LH) Luteinizing Hormone that play important
roles in the production of sperm and egg, so as the release of sex
hormones.
Pituitary Hormone Functions
Follicle-stimulating hormone Stimulates egg maturation in the ovary and release of sex hormones.

Lutenizing hormone Stimulates maturation of egg and of the corpus luteum surrounding the
egg, which affects female sex hormones and the menstrual cycle.

Thyroid-stimulating hormone Stimulates the thyroid to release thyroxine.

Adrenocorticotropic hormone Causes the adrenal gland to release cortisol.

Melanocyte-stimulating hormone Stimulates synthesis of skin pigments.

Growth hormone Stimulates growth during infancy and puberty.

Antidiuretic hormone Stimulates the kidney to conserve more water.


Oxytocin Affects childbirth, lactation, and some behaviors.
