A seed is a part that can grow
into a new plant. Most plants
reproduce by seeds.
Leaves are flat and thin parts
of the plant. It uses the sun to
make its food. Most leaves
are green in color.
Roots are usually underground. It
anchors the plant in the ground.
Roots absorb water and minerals
from the soil.
Roots hold plants firmly to the
ground.
Roots also:
absorb or take in water from the soil
absorb dissolved mineral salts from water in soil
roots that store food can be eaten, examples:
Stems join the roots to the other parts of
plants.
The stem supports leaves and flowers.
Stems transport water and mineral salts from
the roots to the other parts of plants. It allows
food and water to go around the plant.
Inside a stem, there are many tubes which carry water
and mineral salts from the roots to other parts of the
plant.
Plants that bear flowers are flowering plants.
Flowers help plants reproduce.
Flowers have different shapes, sizes and
colours.
The flower is considered the most attractive
part of the plant.
