Teacher Introduction
I’m Leigh Ann Lilly and will be your Music Appreciation teacher. I am the Choral Director at South
Middle School in Lancaster, SC, where I am beginning my 25th year in the classroom. I am a former
opera singer and have played the piano for 42 years. I also enjoy teaching Music Appreciation for
VirtualSC! I love the creativity in this course and enjoy working with students virtually a great deal!
I have worked as an adjunct instructor with the Virtual SC Program for the past seven years.
I am happily married to Craig and have two sons, William, a Senior at USC, and Joshua, a Freshman at
USC who also is a baseball catcher. I am also the Music Minister of First Baptist Church here in Lancaster.
When not doing music, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
I look forward to working with you and getting to know you a little better throughout the semester.

Getting Started
Please make sure that you have reviewed the previous email you received when you were
placed in the course. This email contains information on the Orientation Course and directions
for making sure your computer is ready to go.
This course begins on September 7, 2022 at 7:00 AM and ends on December 4, 2022. Exams
will be held at your school between December 4-8, 2022. Check out the video on how to access

1. Send me a message in Genius (your virtual school account message area that you see
whenever you log in) ***This is the quickest way to reach me. I check messages very
frequently.***
2. Call or text me at 803-804-4381. I am available during office hours, which are posted
in my course. If you get my voicemail, that means I am on the phone with someone else
or am in a meeting or training and can’t answer the phone. Please “leave a message.” I
will return your call as soon as I can. Please allow 24 hours for a return call, Monday-
Friday. Also, please save my phone number with “Mrs. Lilly” as the contact. You
will know the call is either coming from me or through the voice-messaging service,
“DialMyCall.”
3. Skype me. My Skype: singinglillyflower. Skype is an instant messaging system. I am
on Skype during office hours and often at other times. You are welcomed to send me an
instant message whenever you see me online. (It’s best to send Skype messages when we
are both online – otherwise there are delays in getting messages.) When you send me a
request to be added to my Skype, please identify yourself with your official name and
that you are in Music Appreciation 1. Skype is a free, safe and optional download.
To start your work, login in at VirtualSC, then go to your Dashboard and click on the
button that says Moodle or LMS. Currently, you cannot see the course because it is
hidden from you and will stay that way until 7:00 a.m. the opening day of class.

2. You should NEVER use google docs or slides in this course. If you MUST, make sure
you give me permission to review and edit the information. My email address is below.
3. Know the ATTENDANCE POLICY!
4. Be aware of the ACADEMIC INTEGRATY POLICY and its punishments.
5. Follow ALL video directions.
6. READ all assignment directions CAREFULLY.
7. Complete the STUDENT ORIENTATION!
8. Every activity and test in this course is interlocked. You cannot skip around assignments.
YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENTS IN THE ORDER YOU GET TO THEM!
Skipping assignments is strictly forbidden and will be enforced with zeros on assignment
and, if necessary, removal from course.
Your course is available for you 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You are welcome to work in your
course at any time. I am available to you during my office hours.

If you have uploading or video troubles when making or uploading assignments, please be aware
of the VirtualSC Support Portal that is located all the way below the Padlet bulletin board in the
classroom. This document contains everything that I know, technically about sound bites,
videos, uploading and making some of these assignments. PLEASE USE THIS TOOL!!!
