Assignment 2 : Analysis on Existing Security Tools


Objectives:
1. To carry out research on the available security techniques / methods / tools
2. To perform analysis on the existing s security techniques / methods / tools
3. To present a report on the analysis and suggestions on the best technique / methods / tools
for the scenario given

Tasks:

1. Conduct the assignment in a group that you have created earlier for the lab.
2. Choose any ONE (1) of the topic below.
3. Only at most TWO (2) groups can work on a topic. You may book your topic via Whatsapp.
4. Prepare a report based on the scenario and requirements given below.
5. Submit the assignment as a group via ULearn.

Scenario

You are working as an information security analyst for a security consulting company. You have been
tasked to advise a small start-up company that wanted to expand the company. One of the key
considerations is to secure the company in terms of data and network perimeters. Please advice the
company on one of the topics below:

Topic:
1. Comparative analysis of different intrusion detection systems.
2. Comparative analysis of different antivirus products.
3. Comparative analysis of different wireless security products.
4. Comparative analysis of different types of firewall systems/techniques.
5. Comparative analysis of different cloud forensic techniques.
6. Comparative analysis of different virtual private networks (VPN).

Requirements

Please prepare a report for the company based on the chosen topic. There’s no limit on how many
technique / method / tool you choose to compare. You must identify the parameters to compare and
the justifications of choosing such parameters. (Example of parameters include: Cost/budget,
Functionality, Performance etc.) You must also provide your conclusion in terms of the best technique
/ method / tool for the scenario given and the best practice to adopt the chosen technique / methods
/ tools.
