t-VIRUS
A virus enhanced for military use of the "Progenitor Virus."
The initial letter "t" is said to be an abbreviation for "tyrant."
This virus causes mutations in humans infected with it.
Primary mutation details are as follows:
rotting of the skin, hemostasis
muscle fiber deterioration
extreme degeneration of intelligence
paralysis of pain sensations
metabolic activation
Humans that end up in such a condition are referred to by the common name "Zombie."
Although they appear weak at first glance from their slow movements and decaying appearance, their vitality's several times above that of normal humans.
The only way to stop them moving is to destroy their heads.
And because of their active metabolism, they're inferred to be in a permanent state of starvation.
This effect leads them to attack (eat) humans.
In the event of being attacked and bitten, there's a high probability of the victim being infected with the t-Virus.
In the event of encountering a Zombie, aim a firearm at its head and hit it from medium to long distance without allowing it to approach, this is considered the
safest and most effective countermeasure.
(For detailed countermeasures, refer to Sections 13 to 17 of Combat Drill File "t-15")
Moreover, the Progenitor Virus is said to be its raw material, but aside from the name we have practically no information on this virus.
The Progenitor Virus has also likewise been deemed a target of the highest priority for further investigation.
                                                                            G-VIRUS
The difference between the G-Virus and t-Virus is that while the t-Virus causes humans to become so-called Zombies and creates mutants through mutations,
the G-Virus is capable of "evolving" infected organisms into completely new life-forms.
Therefore, a life-form infected with the G-Virus (commonly called a "G-Creature") possesses a "breeding ability" a Zombie doesn't have. In other words,
a G-Creature can leave behind offspring beyond a second generation.
This is a terrifying matter.
In addition, the
G-Virus has another characteristic of reviving the dead. into it.
Therefore it's safe to say it requires more precautions than the t-Virus.
In the event of a confirmed bioterror attack employing the G-Virus, the alert level at the BSAA will be increased to "10" in all branches, including regions outside
the outbreak zone. Evolution elicited by the G-Virus is so
irregular and unpredictable that its reproductive rate isn't foreseeable either.
Thus, the moment bioterror utilizing the G-Virus is confirmed, a G-Creature's reproductive progress is an unknown.
If breeding is limited to the first generation, it's possible for the branch in the region concerned to deal with it alone, but should the situation progress to a third
generation or beyond, operational actions exceeding those of just one branch will be necessary.
                                                                      t-VERONICA
As with the t-Virus, t-Veronica was created using the "Progenitor Virus" as raw material.
How it was created has become relatively clear, said to be the result of incorporating queen ant and plant genes into the Progenitor Virus.
Organisms infected with t-Veronica not only have their cells rapidly eroded, but even their brain cells are decimated due to an extreme rejection.
It's said to be less dangerous than the t-Virus that creates mutants via mutation, as well as the G-Virus which creates new life-forms, but in terms of deadliness to
humans, there's no difference and the viruses are similarly dangerous.
※ WARNING The following information is to be handled with caution!
Though off the record, symbiosis with t-Veronica is possible by allowing the body to adapt through cryogenically preserving an infected host to delay virus
erosion.
If successful, the carrier will gain incredible power.
Although a carrier in this condition is said to possesses a reproductive ability similar to a G-Creature, this is unconfirmed and remains a matter of speculation.
Since there's a possibility of the aforementioned information being misused, it hasn't been made public.
Handling of this information is restricted solely to Level 5 or higher intel analysts belonging to the Intelligence Analysis Office, some authorized researchers

Concerning the "Plaga"
The parasitic life-forms "Las Plagas" were sealed beneath a castle ruled over by the old Salazar family in Europe
. and starts attacking people at the command of a distinct species of Plaga called the dominant species (or other humans parasitized by it). Even though a
parasitized human loses their rational mind, their human intelligence remains and they are still able to communicate with each other via speech.
In addition, they use tools and cunningly corner their enemy in groups.
Leon S. Kennedy wrote in the Leon Report that humans in this condition are referred to as "Ganado."
REPORTS
                                                                    Report_090213
Up until now, I've continued observing the "Kijuju Autonomous Zone" in Africa as I was in charge of the follow-up investigation of the incident.
According to news reports, there's been ongoing chaos in this country just after the regime changed.
They say part of that's a movement that opposes foreign nationals, though I don't think this is the only cause for the situation in the Kijuju Autonomous Zone.
But only via intel from hearsay, occasional signs of bioterrorism can be seen here.
That headless dog carcass in Adam's blog, for example.
And the corpses stuffed and burned in burlap sacks.
It's a well-known fact that the signs of the Raccoon City tragedy, like the body of a murdered woman, began several months before.
Normally, not many cases of corpses are thought to be caused by bioweapons such as viruses infecting humans or animals.
However, if this is the work of a single human or animal, a certain pattern has to exist here, but I haven't recognized one.
In other words, it's natural to think multiple humans or animals are involved in the incident occurring in Kijuju.
And Adam's blog was updated today. For the first time, I can confirm concrete signs of bioterrorism.
>The weirdest thing I've laid eyes upon recently has to be the dog I saw with some leeches or tentacles on his face.
The "leeches or tentacles" are probably the tentacles of a "Plaga", or so I assume.
And it seems to be the "Plaga" in "Leon's report."
At this moment, we should increase the observation level for the Kijuju Autonomous Zone and consider a real investigation.
Then as soon as we gather enough evidence, we should inform the West Africa Branch who have jurisdiction and request the execution of a military operation.
However, the materials are still insufficient.
Our first cooperation request for the West Africa Branch will be the introduction of an agent at the site.
Furthermore, chances are high for this matter to be approved as a formal operation later.
For the record, I'll keep a journal on this matter starting today.
                                                                      Report_090216
I received an e-mail from Reynard Fisher, our local agent in the Kijuju Autonomous Zone.
I'd say its contents were well within the range of my expectations.
I think if Rey had detected signs of the Plaga, the West Africa Branch would probably take action ahead of me.
Informing them about this possibility was the important thing.
If they observe a subject and assume this possibility, they may realize something they didn't notice before.
However, the state of affairs probably doesn't allow the situation to be taken lightly. It'd be wise to proceed with further operational planning under the
assumption that the Plaga's spreading, so that action can be taken as soon as we have proof.
                                                                          Report_090217
I consulted with chief intel analyst Mike about the matter yesterday.
He was sceptical about my theory that the Plaga's being used in the Kijuju Autonomous Zone.
Of course it's abnormal that the Plaga, documented only in Europe, would suddenly show up in Africa.
One explanation to consider is that someone imported it, though I couldn't think of a reason to do that.
If you think of the Plaga as a B.O.W. product, it's not very lucrative.
The reason I say that is that mass-production is difficult, parasitism takes time and it's much more cost-effective and faster for a group to use a virus for
bioterrorism.
Fact is, there are far less reports of bioterror involving the Plaga than reports of bioterror employing other B.O.W.'s.
However, if we cling solely to precedents, we won't be able to deal with new facts.
What if someone overcame these faults of the Plaga, what if someone developed it further?
If you rob people of their reason and spare only their intelligence, you're able to create an absolutely perfect obedient soldier, following the orders of the
dominant species.
And could the Kijuju Autonomous Zone have been chosen as an experiment, simultaneously serving as a demonstration?
And...
...no, I can't.
If I go on like that, I'll only draw conclusion after conclusion.
The only thing we need now is facts.
I'll continue observing the Kijuju Autonomous Zone.
                                                                    Report_090218
Didn't make any particular progress yesterday.
Still working on the investigation and observation of the Plaga, but my thoughts inevitably turned dark.
No, closer to delusions than thoughts, I'd say.
Though inspiration is sometimes necessary. intelligence analysts must be willing to accumulate facts and derive new ones.
But the fact that I'm in this thought spiral means I'm probably under a lot of stress.
Maybe I need to take a break and relax a bit...
                                                                    Report_090220
No progress for the last 2~3 days, but it was worth the wait.
The man depicted in the photo Rey sent is one Ricardo Irving.
It seems like he pretends to be just some businessman, but in reality, he's a B.O.W. trafficker.
He's a so-called "merchant of death".
It's safe to say the possibility of bioterrorism in the Kijuju Autonomous Zone has increased because he was seen there.
I know further investigation will be very interesting.
I tried to examine the country's emigration and immigration records and traced a person who looks like Irving, who entered the country before the incident I'm
investigating, and left America after it.
Of course, there's no certain proof as he used a fake ID when entering the country. It was almost a bit misleading, but I comprehensively analyzed the case
records from all BSAA branches and each country's emigration and immigration records, as well as the fact that Irving is said to have dealt with B.O.W.'s in the past,
with a tendency toward B.O.W.'s used in bioterrorism, and furthermore, his physical traits remaining in the records.
According to the follow-up investigation of the incident, there are signs of Irving having arrived before it. Moreover, he's suspected of participating in the incident.
I think each event might be connected to one and the same string, or rather, I have no doubt about it.
I'll immediately communicate this information to the agent in charge of the case.
                                                                       Report_090223
I gave the information on Irving to Chris Redfield.
He's one of the few agents in the BSAA with level 10 operational authority.
He can conduct investigations exceeding the limits of his branch based on his independent judgment.
I also believe he's capable of obtaining intel other agents can't get their hands on.
I frequently exchanged information with AMADI from the West Africa Branch. They want to arrest Irving, catching him in the act of B.O.W. trafficking.
Therefore, we need to get our hands on intel concerning where he's carrying out transactions in Kijuju.
Rey seems to be actively gathering intel as best he can, but regrettably, it hasn't yielded the results we're hoping for.
In such a case, an intel analyst unfortunately isn't in the position to place themselves at the site of the event, but "Mister BSAA" Chris Redfield will take the matter
into his own hands.
Though he probably doesn't want to.
But this matter's urgent.
Looking at Adam's blog conveys the seriousness of the situation.
There's no conclusive proof, but as expected, this isn't just some riot or radical nationalist movement.
It can be said that Irving, he and he only, is the key to this situation.
I guess the answer will appear on its own if we understand what he's after.
                                                                    Report_090224
A virus was sent by some unknown individual.
Because of that, I couldn't do my work yesterday.
Thanks to MJ from the Technology Research Office, I was able to get rid of the virus somehow. Question is, who sent it?
Even with MJ's skills we couldn't identify the original sender. It seems like there's no traces of an illegitimate intrusion from the outside.
That is to say, the message was sent from within the BSAA.
And the content of that message.
It just said "Information on Irving."
In other words, that person knew I'm after info on Irving and that I'd get infected by the virus for sure.
Who on earth...
In the North America Branch, I only talked to Chris Redfield about the Irving matter.
But it's hard to imagine he'd have done this.
Does this mean there's someone within the BSAA who doesn't want the Irving situation looked into...?
                                                                   Report_090225
Chris Redfield brought some information late last night.
3/5 of Ricardo Irving's transactions are carried out in the Kijuju Autonomous Zone.
The buyers are Americans.
The West Africa Branch requested to execute an independent operation, but because the buyers are Americans, because there's a possibility of Irving having a
connection to the incident here, because Mister Redfield obtained this information and, above all, because of his own burning desire to participate in the
operation himself, this will be a joint op between the North America Branch and West Africa Branch.
As expected, the Original Eleven's considerable influence counts a lot in situations like these.
However, the West Africa Branch will do the fundamental planning of the op and execute it. Mister Redfield will stay and participate as an observer to the op. He
seems to agree with this.
I'll analyze intel received from the West Africa Branch and take on the task of communicating it to Mister Redfield.
Well, looks like I'll be busy.
                                                                       Report_090226
2009.02.26 17:11 Level.06
Now that Chris Redfield's participation in the op's been decided, we needed to select his partner.
Two-man cells are standard when SOAs take part in an operation.
As this is an op in a region Mister Redfield's unfamiliar with, it's better to choose from the SOAs of the West Africa Branch han the North America Branch. AMADI
shares the same opinion.
(on another note, Suzuki here wanted to take part, but she's probably not experienced enough yet)
As a result of our discussion, West Africa Branch SOA "Sheva Alomar" was chosen as his partner.
I requested her profile in another matter.
Pretty young at 23-years-old, but still, she's a highly capable SOA.
She won't be lacking as Mister Redfield's partner.
Though what I am curious about is her background.
The restrictions regarding disclosure of that information are far too strict for a single SOA unit member.
Although it's just a rumor, I hear she has a personal connection with a standing member of the Bioterrorism Assessment Committee.
I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
                                                                     Report_090227
2009.02.27 21:06 Level.06
Due to the photograph of Sheva Alomar, I was continuously urged to desire photos all day long yesterday.
In reality, it was another guy, Reidy... to whom I distributed it.
Although there really was another one, I didn't pass it on to him.
And one more thing.
There was a journalistic request.
It came from a journalist managing a blog called "BSAA Observation Diary".
Strike Three
2009/3/11
When you open the BSAA site and read Mr. Ryan's last letter, the screen changes.
… It may be my turn to get too deep into it. Let's get out of this matter quickly. As a last hurdle, I will post a momentary shadow on the monitor. Someone,
someone, Mr. Ryan's Kataki...
Unreachable
2009/3/10
Ryan's fears have become reality. Mr. Suzuki's prediction that there is a possibility of bioterrorism in the disturbing atmosphere spreading in the Kijuju
Autonomous Region was not conveyed to Chris and others through M.Suzuki.
Mr. M. Suzuki's response as if returning the palm.
Already at the time of Mr. Ryan's memo on February 24th, are there dissidents within the BSAA? is being considered. Infinitely gray. Even if you want to contact
Mr. M.Suzuki, it seems that he has not been contacted at all.
Where did Mr. M.Suzuki disappear to? I hope Mr. Ryan is out of danger.
Prayer
2009/3/9
  Oh my God
A few days later, the report was about the epic end of the BSAA's proud elite. What kind of enemies have appeared? We can only pray for the survival of Chris
and Sheva's Bravo Team, and the success of the Delta Team led by Josh, who will be sent from the backup to the front line.
On the other hand, Adam's blog, which had been questioned about his safety, was updated. I was safe. Below is a hastily translated version of his blog.

Title: Help at last!
Again today I heard a man being sacrificed being led to the top of the tower. It became so routine that I learned to just cover my ears each time to block out the
curse words of the down-luck guys. Even with my ears covered, I could still feel the ax blow taking another human life, and the cheers of the crowd continued to
fill me with fear and dread. I thought I offered a prayer from the bottom of my heart for the poor man (or at least I thought I did), but I didn't even think about him
anymore. I couldn't believe the numbness of my senses now. Executions repeated daily. Maybe it's just me feeling that way.
This time it didn't end with mob cheers. Gunshots were heard instead. Confused, I carefully drew the curtains to see what was going on outside. (I did so at great
risk to my life, mind you.) I saw a man and a woman in a nearby building surrounded by a crowd. I thought they were doomed, but the next moment I realized they
were the ones with the guns. They must be the ones who just fired! They worked together, rushing into the plaza and ferociously eliminating those who were
there. I should have been shocked to see more deaths, but I think I was more shocked by the presence of those two.
As I watched, a helicopter appeared out of nowhere and I heard the sound of missiles being fired at a huge iron gate. The impact shook my house like an
earthquake. I don't think anyone who was near that blast would be okay. When I looked out the window again, everyone had disappeared except the man and
woman. Maybe they were afraid of missiles.
Things seemed to be over, so I grabbed my binoculars to get a better look at those crazy duo. It must be crazy to deal with thousands of people like those rabid
dogs! The woman seems to be this kind of person. She wore comfortable clothes, wore a gun belt, and carried a large knife. She seemed familiar with firearms.
The man had similar clothes, but he wore a uniform-like shirt under his gun belt. He was muscular, like an 80s action movie star. I saw a badge on his arm that said
BSAA. When he saw the batch, he made a lot of sense. As far as I know, the BSAA should only be involved in bioterrorism. Someone must have released a virus or
something that made people go out of control. Maybe an intense version of mad cow disease.
Well, whatever it really is, the BSAA must have brought a vaccine that will help everyone. Oh good! I haven't had a drink in a while, so I hope you brought me some
whiskey. It wouldn't hurt to have a drink with that cute female BSAA agent. I'm sure she's determined to make a good move.
Anyway, I'm fine now! Thank you to everyone who has raised their voices for me. Now I can get back to writing about the important things in life. I mean alcohol
and cuties!
No news
2009/3/6
One day has passed since the day of the operation. However, there is no local information available. Despite the time difference, there is too much time
between them. All I can do is keep my hands off. However, it is good news that Mr. M.Suzuki of SOA has taken on the task of informing the working force of the
possibility of bioterrorism, which Mr. Ryan was concerned about. This will give him peace of mind. Even among the BSAA analysts, there is only a whisper of
"nothing" on messengers. At most, a strategy against one smuggler. Perhaps the operation has already ended and the feast is just being held.
I'm also curious about Adam's current situation.
Here's a little refresher on their BSAA. It all started when the infamous Umbrella Corporation was shut down by the U.S. government and virtually collapsed. The
BOW (Organic Life Weapon) secretly created by the company spread all over the world. The outflow led to bioterrorism, and the momentum of criticism against
pharmaceutical companies in the same industry increased. Fearing the liability issue, the Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies immediately organized an
anti-bioterrorism unit. This is BSAA. Eventually, the BSAA will be reorganized as a working special force under the jurisdiction of the United Nations as the threat of
bioterrorism expands.
In the sense that a pharmaceutical company deploys a private military force, it can be said that it is similar to Umbrella's deployment of UBCS at the time of the
Raccoon City incident in 1998. However, the purpose of Umbrella at that time was not to save lives on the surface, but to collect data on the BOW disaster, which
was the largest in history. BOW vs Military. It was probably the best case for grasping the ferocity of the BOW as a weapon.
When the Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers sponsored the establishment of BSAA, it is hard to believe that the purpose was to collect BOW data like
the former Umbrella. However, Irving, who is the target this time, is undoubtedly one of the BSAA board companies, and a member of the conglomerate Tricell,
which is said to have a strong voice within the organization. I feel that all the parts that become a bottleneck in this operation, in other words, the parts that feel
stuck, are all concentrated here. Am I a little too lazy?
By the way, the predecessor of Tricell is a prestigious shipping company that has continued since the Age of Discovery. From the 19th century onwards, a
resource development department and a pharmaceutical department were established to conduct original development based on materials collected from
plants and animals in Africa. It is named "Tricell" because it is a conglomerate of three divisions: shipping, resource development, and pharmaceuticals.
It became a rambling story. We are still waiting for information from the field.
Operation decision day
2009/3/5
Today is the day the operation is carried out. Are the BSAA members just about to burst in? Or is it already rushing in under someone else's command? Local
information is not yet available. It is a pity that there is a time difference.
Ryan's diary from yesterday suggests that the operations currently being (or are) being deployed in Kijuju do not envision a counter-bioterrorist war. This is bad.
In particular, Chris and Sheva of Bravo Team, who enter with a small number of people, are isolated. Ryan's "strike two" hints at a situation where one unforeseen
event cn lead to the worst possible outcome.
Not for that reason, but for the members of the BSAA, I have put together a strategy
An immediate investigation into Ouroboros must also be awaited.
It seems like he obtained information on the virus attack lately made against my PC, though I don't know how.
He has a profound knowledge of internal BSAA affairs like this. Seems he's an excellent journalist.
It's reassuring to have a great journalist as an ally, but if they become hostile, it might be more of a threat than bioterrorism.
I guess the situation could become serious if he misinterpreted this correspondence.
I consulted with Reidy about this matter and what I got back was "Can't you just answer appropriately?"
Although he's an excellent weapons and equipment analyst, he's not the right person for this sort of thing.
Consulting him would be exactly the wrong type of response I'm looking for.
This is strike one, for starters.
Photo Analysis
Source Unknown
Research Facility Photograph (Means of acquisition: Unknown)
Although it's indistinct, we assume a biolab is pictured.
The source of the information is being kept under wraps but it's an item categorized as Object Rank A under intel evaluation, issued only to information from
reliable sources.
The plant contained in the central cylinder is considered the main subject of study.
This is an Asteracea plant "Sonnentreppe", native to Africa.
Up until the 1960s this plant was found only in Africa, but ever since the 1970s it has been cultivated throughout world due to its ease of cultivation and robust
vigor.
So far the "Sonnentreppe" has not been reported to contain materials with toxic or narcotic characteristics, or substances of unique composition.
It's unlikely this would be utilized as raw material for developing bioweapons, but we can't jump to conclusions based solely on this photo.
We acknowledge the need for continued intelligence gathering and ongoing assessment.

UMBRELLA'S
BANKRUPTCY
PHARMA-COMPANY UMBRELLA'S DOMESTIC BUSINESS TO DISSOLVE
In response to the bankruptcy of the global pharmaceutical company "Umbrella", its Japanese subsidiary "Umbrella Japan Co., Ltd" (headquarters: Tokyo) has
announced the company's dissolution and entered liquidation proceedings.
The domestic company was established in 1984 as Umbrella's Japanese subsidiary. At the time of its establishment, it was merely engaged in importing and
distributing drugs developed in the USA, but in 1987, the "Umbrella Japan Laboratory" was constructed. It advanced unique research and product development
utilizing our nation's forte in biotechnology.
Following the "Raccoon City tragedy" allegedly caused by Umbrella, however, its stock prices crashed.
Sales have also faltered in recent years, partly due to reputational damage.
After a multitude of lawsuits concerning the Raccoon City tragedy resulted in Umbrella Headquarters losing all its cases, the head office went bankrupt.
As a Japanese subsidiary the domestic company sought a takeover buyer, but since no interest was exhibited by any domestic or foreign pharma-companies or
even enterprises in other industries, the company's dissolution was decided upon.

"Umbrella", one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, announced on the 4th that its head office operations are expected to soon go into receivership,
effectively causing the company to go under.
The company's sales have fallen dramatically in recent years due to the impact of the investigation into its culpability in the biohazard caused by the company's
laboratory in Raccoon City, USA. The chronic losses continued and operations stalled.
Moreover, the final contributing factor was last month's judicial ruling of a full-scale loss for Umbrella in the lawsuits aimed at it, seeking its liability for the above-
mentioned incident.

Announcement of Company Dissolution (March 14, 2004)
                                                                                                                              information
Please allow me to inform you that, pursuant to the bankruptcy of our 100% parent company Umbrella, we reached a decision to dissolve our company at the
Board of Directors meeting held on March 10th 2004.
Sales have been weak due to the 1998 accident in Raccoon City, USA. Although all our employees worked together to propel the business toward profitability,
Umbrella lost a series of lawsuits which led to its bankruptcy, and we determined it infeasible to continue our business operations based upon the sequence of
events that led to bankruptcy.
Since losing the lawsuits last year, we had been exploring ways for continuing our operations and searching for a target company to transfer our business, but
these efforts ultimately failed to materialize, resulting in the outcome described above.
In addition, I, Akitaka Igarashi (Former Umbrella Japan Co., Ltd Managing Director) will assume the position of liquidator.

The Kijuju Autonomous Zone's definitely a terrible situation.
It's economically impoverished as a result of a long civil war, leaving the hearts and minds of the people devastated.
The war has ceased and the government recently changed, but chaos still festers.
Since there's a mine in the area, the comparative economic conditions were quite stable, but for the Kijuju Autonomous Zone itself, the situation from the area
began to change at the end of last year.
Slaughtered bodies of animals matching the blog you mentioned is one, and particularly noticeable is a xenophobic movement.
I think it was inspired as the current government pushes extreme ultranationalism, although the situation's odd variables are too sudden.
Even among the residents in the autonomous zone, they're divided into factions of residents and non-residents riding the flow, the trouble between them never-
ending.
Among them, murder hasn't been rare.
In fact one of our sources, the butcher shop owner, was killed last month too.
(There are notes on Adam's blog about this too)
I think this movement may also involve something religious, not just something political.
But I can't find a reason for the spread of the "Plaga", which as you said, has no possibilities for bioterrorism.
The country's political situation is unstable, making it a suitable headquarters for terrorists.
I haven't seen anyone in this area who'd likely participate in bioterrorism, but that doesn't mean there isn't a possibility, and rather I'm here at the moment
because it's very likely.
That's all the information I have in mind.
Contact me if you have any as well.
