THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Introduction
In today's ever-changing job market, landing a job after graduation can be a challenging
and daunting task for many students, including those from Bulacan State University (BulSU).
Despite the university's commitment to academic excellence and providing its students with
relevant skills and knowledge, the job search process can be overwhelming, especially for
students who lack practical experience or are unsure how to market themselves to potential
employers.
This capstone project aims to provide guidance and practical tips for BulSU students seeking
employment after graduation. Specifically, this project will focus on the job application process,
including crafting an effective resume and cover letter, preparing for interviews, and networking
strategies.
In this chapter, we will provide an overview of the project's objectives and outline the
importance of the job application process for BulSU students. We will also provide a rationale
for this project, highlighting the challenges students face when applying for jobs and the need for
a comprehensive guide to help them navigate this process successfully.
The primary goal of this capstone project is to empower BulSU students with the skills and
knowledge they need to stand out in the job market and secure their dream job. By providing
practical advice and guidance, this project aims to help students feel more confident and
prepared as they enter the workforce.
Overall, this project seeks to provide valuable insights into the job application process and equip
BulSU students with the tools they need to succeed in their job search. With the right skills,
knowledge, and guidance, students can achieve their career goals and make a positive impact in
their chosen field. We developed a system that has an algorithm that can show so many
opportunities That may help us or the incoming graduating student to have a great opportunity
in life. It was built with a high level of processing of data, functionable, reliable, accessibility,
and high level of security
Statement of the Problem
Bulacan State University (BulSU) is committed to providing its students with the necessary
knowledge, skills, and competencies to succeed in their chosen careers. However, despite this
commitment, many BulSU students face challenges when it comes to the job application process.
Specifically, students may struggle with creating a compelling resume and cover letter, preparing
for job interviews, and networking with potential employers.
One of the primary issues facing BulSU students is the lack of practical experience. Although the
university provides theoretical knowledge and hands-on training in certain programs, students
may not have had opportunities to apply their knowledge in real-world settings. This lack of
practical experience can make it challenging for students to market themselves effectively to
potential employers.
Another challenge facing BulSU students is the competitive job market. Graduates are
competing for jobs not just with their fellow BulSU graduates but also with graduates from other
universities, including those from prestigious institutions. Students must be able to stand out
from the competition and present themselves as the most qualified and desirable candidates.
Furthermore, students may lack knowledge of the job application process itself. Many students
may not know how to create an effective resume or cover letter that highlights their skills and
experience. They may also be unsure how to prepare for job interviews or network with potential
employers effectively.
These challenges can lead to stress, anxiety, and even feelings of hopelessness among BulSU
students as they try to navigate the job application process. This capstone project aims to address
these challenges by providing guidance and practical tips to help BulSU students succeed in their
job search. By equipping students with the knowledge and tools they need to market themselves
effectively and navigate the job application process, this project aims to empower BulSU
students to achieve their career goals and make a positive impact in their chosen field.

CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
Review of Related Literature and Studies Introduction This chapter presents the review of
related literature and studies that will provide a framework for the development of the job
application for Bulacan State University (Meneses Campus ) students. The literature review will
discuss the importance of job applications and its components, while the studies will provide
insights on the challenges and strategies in job application processes.
Relevant Theories
This section has pointed some of the theories that helped the development of the .
The proponents have used the theories as the foundation to develop the study.
Factors Affecting Job Search Success
-Several studies have explored the factors that affect job search success. According to the
study of Phillips and Dipboye (2014), job search intensity, networking, and the quality of job
search methods are significant predictors of job search success. They found that applicants who
engaged in more active job search behaviors, such as networking and submitting more
applications, had higher job search success rates.
Effectiveness of Job Application Materials
-The effectiveness of job application materials, such as resumes and cover letters, is critical
in
the job search process. According to the study of Harris and Fink (2015), the design and content
of resumes can affect an applicant's chances of getting hired. They found that resumes that were
well-organized, clear, and concise were more effective than those that were poorly organized and
cluttered. In terms of cover letters, the study of Robles and Harris (2017) found that tailored
cover letters that highlighted an applicant's relevant skills and experiences were more effective
than generic cover letters.
Use of Technology in the Job Application Process
The use of technology in the job application process has become increasingly popular in
recent
years. According to the study of Huang and Meurs (2017), the use of online job search tools,
such as job boards and company websites, can increase an applicant's job search success. They
found that online job search tools were more effective for applicants who had higher levels of
education and work experience.
Another aspect of technology in the job application process is the use of applicant tracking
systems (ATS). The study of Levashina and Campion (2007) found that ATS can be effective in
screening job applications and identifying qualified candidates. However, they also noted that
ATS can have limitations, such as filtering out qualified candidates who do not meet specific
keywords or criteria.
Related Literature
Importance of Job Applications Job applications are essential documents in the job search
process.
According to the study of Dipboye and Phillips (2011), job applications serve as an
applicant's first impression to potential employers. They found that applicants who provided
complete and accurate information on their job applications were more likely to receive job
offers than those who did not.
Furthermore, job applications provide employers with a basis for selection decisions. The study
of Smith and Rupp (2014) found that employers use job applications to assess an applicant's
qualifications, work experience, and skills. They also found that job applications that are tailored
to the specific job position and highlight an applicant's relevant experiences and skills were more
likely to receive consideration from employers. Role of Networking in Job Search Success
Networking plays a crucial role in job search success.
According to Albina et al. (2020). Employability becomes a matter of crucial consideration
when schools define their curriculum and their policies on recruitment, entrance, and retention.
This survey included 177 out of 204(or 86.76%) graduates of Bachelor of Science in Information
Technology and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science between 2015 and 2017. According to
the authors, 78.53 percent (or 139 out of
177) of the respondents are already employed, and 69.78 percent (or 97 out of 139) say their first
employment is relevant to their undergraduate degree. The researchers suggest that academic
leaders, alumni, and industry representatives examine curriculum on a regular basis to improve
the employability of graduates. The following study may contribute to the researcher by showing
the employment rate of Information Technology graduates that have landed a job that is related
to the program they took and how the college can improve the employability of students. The
following study has served as a guide for the researchers by showing the employment rate of
Information Technology graduates who have gotten a job relevant to the degree they completed,
as well as how the college might increase student employability.
This study is applicable to the research because it discussed the continuous improvement of
schools and universities in terms of their curriculum to keep up with the innovation in the
industry. It emphasizes the importance of the employment rate of Information Technology
graduates in relation to their university curriculum and students who complete their studies
related to the course taken. Also, it shows how college education can improve the employability
of students. According to Hlado P. et al., (2019). The transition from school to employment is a
long- term process with unclear boundaries that includes a variety of factors involving issues or
concerns. The authors of this study wanted to see how certain demographic and school-relate
characteristics affected VET graduates' job adaptability and four components of professional
adaptability (concern, control, curiosity, and confidence). To assess job adaptability, the authors
employed the 24-item Career Adapt-Abilities Scale. Five of the ten predictor variables positively
predicted career adaptation or career adaptability components, according to the findings. The
study's significant predictors were career guidance services, male gender, father's tertiary
education, and the subject of study finished with school-leaving tests.
This study is relevant to the researchers because it explains how a variety of factors might
influence graduates as they move from education to job.
According to Youngson L. (2016). Combining work experience and degree level
study is viewed as a key differentiator for landing a job after graduation. The author
investigates the advantages of cross-cohort work placements in this paper. Interns are
also more likely than non- interns to land relevant senior-level jobs and higher
starting salaries upon completion of their degree. According to the findings,
completing a work placement is related to improved academic performance in the
final year of study. According to this study, employers are more likely to hire
students who have completed a work placement or supervised work, which allows
you to gain experience working in a specific role with a company.
This study is relevant to the research because it has discussed the importance of
students having a strong academic and work background before graduating in order
to secure employment with their degree program. This may also apply when
developing the system and locating employers who match the students' work skills.
According to Malki et al., (2021). One of the most important areas supported by
recent systems is the area ofrecruitment. Nowadays, the recruiting process does not
match the needs of recruiters, who waste time, effort, and money trying to pick the
specific applicant for the job. Job seekers use job portals to promote their abilities
and skills, while employers use their websites or social media to market job
openings. The authors proposed an online E-recruitment system for recruiters and job
seekers to help them engage and match expectations. Allowing graduates to browse
recruiter job vacancies and allowing recruiters to search for job seekers or learn more
about another company, as well as view the applicants who applied for the vacancies.
This study's 4.75 out of 5 evaluation reveals that using this type of system is
convenient and stress- free, especially for graduates. The following essay will
illustrate such a system and discuss the e- recruitment in further detail and deepen the
researchers’ understanding of the benefits the system may bring. According to
Akshay Venugopal et al, International Journal of Advances in Computer Science and
Technology, 9(6), June 2020, 25 – 29 There are so many students who are finishing
their course but only few get jobs that are related to what they studied.
This study and the researchers have the same goal, which made this study become
more relevant for the researchers. This study makes a system where a system can
help graduated students and incoming graduate students to search for a job that is
related to what they studied and to what job position they want to apply for that is
related to the IT field.
According to Jacek et al., (2014) that with "online recruiting," "e-recruitment," and
"internet recruitment" web-based recruitment is a method of using technology called
the internet to hire individuals for jobs in businesses automating the employment
process, including attracting attention, identifying, and selecting relevant personnel.
Additionally, it increases the effectiveness of the Utilizing characteristics that make
the hiring process quick and precise reduces expenses, builds reputation and brand.
Related Studies
This part discusses the related studies that served as the bases for the development and
improvement of the research project.
Use of Technology in Job Search Processes Technology has transformed the way job seekers
search and apply for jobs. The study of Luo and Chen (2017) found that job seekers who used
online job search platforms had higher job search success rates than those who did not. They also
found that job seekers who used social media platforms to network with professionals in their
field had higher job search success rates than those who did not.
Moreover, the study of Han and Park (2019) found that job seekers who used mobile job search
applications had higher job search success rates than those who did not. They found that mobile
job search applications provided job seekers with easy access to job openings and enabled them
to apply for jobs quickly.
Impact of Personality Traits on Job Search Behavior Personality traits can influence job
search behavior and job search success. The study of Judge and Bono (2001) found that
individuals who scored high on traits such as conscientiousness and emotional stability were
more likely to engage in proactive job search behaviors, such as networking and submitting more
job applications. They also found that individuals who scored high on these traits had higher job
search success rates.
In addition, the study of Mount et al. (2017) found that individuals who scored high on the trait
of career adaptability were more likely to engage in job search behaviors and had higher job
search success rates. They also found that career adaptability was positively related to job search
self-efficacy and job search motivation.
Role of Career Readiness in Job Search Success Career readiness, which refers to the
knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary for success in the workplace, can influence job
search success. The study of Germeijs and Verschueren (2009) found that individuals who had
higher levels of career readiness were more likely to engage in proactive job search behaviors
and had higher job search success rates.
Furthermore, the study of O'Brien et al. (2017) found that career readiness was positively related
to job search self-efficacy and job search motivation. They also found that individuals who had
higher levels of career readiness were more likely to engage in job search behaviors, such as
networking and attending job fairs.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter outlines the technique to be applied in developing the system to enhance
the model's functionality. To further illustrate the system design and procedure involved in the
project, project architecture and other pertinent diagrams are also provided. The methods used to
assess the model's consistency and applicability are presented in the final section.
Methods and Techniques of the Study
The proponents research design and methods are being introduced. This gives the
guidelines to systematize the research. It helps and guides the proponents to give a right and
reliable solutions to the problems that might be encountered in the system.
To have the final output and the right and reliable solutions for having a data bank of
questionnaires for the professors of Bulacan State University-Meneses Campus, the proponents
used different research methods.
Descriptive Method. We as a researcher used this method to collect and describe the
data from the respondents. Survey research tells if the system capabilities and features are right
and achieve the want from our client . This research is the common method in descriptive
research. The system were evaluated based on the system quality evaluation that consist of user-
friendliness, accuracy, reliability, maintability and performance. It is used for determining
whether the system is acceptable to the respondents and also it determines if the system will be
qualified and possible to be implemented. The survey method follow’s the process of the system
quality evaluation and uses a likert’s scale to interpret the scores of the survey which will be
computed overall and evaluated.
Applied Method. Applied research/method means to discover the correct response in
addressing the general public’s issue, or choosing the mechanical/business affiliation. Whereas,
the chief research is stressed over speculations aligned with hypothesis (Kothari, 2018)
The proponents gathered information about the generation of the exam in Bulacan State
University-Meneses Campus and the different problems encountered.
Methodology for System Development
Figure 2. Methodology for System Development
Figure 1 shows the process of the Agile Framework; it is the framework used in the project’s
development.
The researchers use the Agile Development Model in the process phase, which consists
of six phases: the requirement phase, the design phase, the development and coding phase, the
integration and testing phase, the implementation and deployment phase, and the review phase.
Input Phase
These are the inputs needed at this stage to construct the system. In this chapter, system
requirements that the customer would want to have are displayed. The review of relevant
research and literature comes next. Researchers collected evidence to support the method from
several papers, articles, and journals. Moreover, the techniques and tools for development. Users
can obtain data with the use of these tools.
Process Phase
The researchers use the Agile Development Model in the process phase, which consists
of six phases: the requirement phase, the design phase, the development and coding phase, the
integration and testing phase, the implementation and deployment phase, and the review phase.
Output Phase
The researchers began the system's operation by gathering data during the output phase.
The system is being developed with the help of the survey results. (iadd dito yung gagamitin like
angular, firebase) etc para sa system
This project’s development includes the agile model implementation depicted in the figure
below. ty. The Agile Development Model, according to (Bhatia, 2012), has six (6) life cycle
phases, which are as follows:
Requirement Phase
In the first stage of the Agile Development Model the researchers conduct a problem
analysis, determine the needs and requirements, gather data for research, and identify the
capabilities and functionality of the system model. The system's quantity of unnecessary features
is reduced significantly during this phase, which is crucial. At each cycle, the client can assess
the features or requirements of the application to make sure they are still relevant. Researchers
must compile a list of all needs before examine and gather data from an online survey.
Design Phase
The developers will perform the study design. It will include program specification, and
programming language to be used. (dito yung mga gagamitin natin sa system etc tignan nyo asa
sample)
Development and Coding Phase
The real work begins at this stage after the software development team defines and
designs the requirements. The coding phase of the software development life cycle entails coding
and translating specifications into system testing. This phase puts the developers' programming
skills to the test, this stage may be the most challenging and time-consuming. The researchers
created a system based on the features and requirements of the users. The development team will
start working on combining all the requirements gathered. It goes under several reviews and
revisions for improvement until finalized.
Implementation and Deployment Phase
This phase of the Agile Model involves the testing team. The researchers check the
system’s performance and reports bugs during this phase. This improved the system quality and
finally meet the client’s requirement.
Review Phase
During this phase, the software has been fully deployed and available to the clients. The
researchers and clients worked together to review progress toward meeting the needs and
requirements. To ensure that the program functions well and is bug-free during this period, the
researchers support to the client. All the users and client’s feedback considered to improve the
quality of the system. The new iterations can happen to make the existing system more
convenient and useful for the clients.
Retirement Phase
The Agile Model's final stage is feedback, which comes after the system has been
released. During this stage, the researchers received feedbacks about the system in correcting
bugs that need to be fixed.
