Reading Intervention

The program aims to address students' needs in oral fluency and reading comprehension in light of pandemic-related learning losses. It will identify struggling readers using assessments and place them in remedial reading classes. The year-long program will teach phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary and the four reading skills. Teachers, students, parents and volunteers will be oriented and involved in activities like name games, rhyming and syllable clapping to develop early reading skills. Progress will be monitored through regular assessments.

SCHOOL READING REMEDIATION PROGRAM

I. Introduction
Reading is one of the keys to a better education. If a child does not know how to read, teaching and learning will be difficult for both the teacher and the learner. Tuyom
Elementary School launches the Project READING RESCUE to address students' need for oral fluency in MTB,English and Filipino.This reading program aims to save all
non-readers from illiteracy and to improve their comprehension and communication skills.The pandemic has had a significant impact on students' reading abilities, resulting
in 80% of students being unable to read and comprehend (based on the PHIL-IRI and EGRA Results).
