PROPOSAL TITLE: Emergency Alert Application
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In today's world, safety is a major concern. Every year, there are multiple natural disasters
and crime rates are higher than ever. In today's world, safety is a major concern. Every year, there
are multiple natural disasters and crime rates are higher than ever. People do not know where the
safe place to go, who are the people we need to contact in case of emergency, and when the danger
will happen. In the event of an emergency, an alert system can save lives. The prevalence of
smartphones in the community provides public authorities with a distributed network that they can
use for emergency notification. The emergency alert app warns of nearby crimes and the severity
of any disaster. It includes advice on how to behave during these times and can even contact the
police.
Emergency Alert Application is a location tracker application and intended to send
emergency notification messages or phone calls to the designated emergency contacts or
institutions. The application includes a GPS function that sends the current location of the user who
requests assistance. The application will send the emergency message and location to the default
emergency contacts or institutions. Users can previously save contacts in this app. When users are
in danger, the app will automatically call the police and send a help message to all saved contacts
with a single click.
PROJECT SCOPE AND LIMITATION
This study aims to develop an emergency alert system that is very convenient and efficient
whenever a disaster is occuring. The person who has this application installed to their mobile
phones will immediately receive a notification that alerts them on an event that happened or will
possibly happen. The other benefit of this application is whenever a person is in trouble, the
system can track and guide them on how to exit the disaster safely.
The limitation of this study is that the application is only accessible when connected to the
internet. This will perform an impossible communication towards people with the application,
making them uniform with disasters happening in an area and since there is no internet connection
operators will lose track making them to unable to guide the users.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The general objective of this study is to propose a system application that people
will rely on during emergency situations.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE
It specifically aims to:
1. Provides an emergency alert system that will help the user to:
a. Track their location using Global Positioning System (GPS);
b. Notify the emergency contacts saved in the application during the
emergency using Short Messaging Service (SMS);
c. Use the system with a simple interface for easy communication during
emergencies.
d. Equip the application effectively and efficiently during emergency
situations.
2. Construct the Application using the following application program:
a. Java for creating the main interface and functions of the application.
b. MySQL for managing the database system of the application.
c. An application that would allow us to view the graphic format of the
application.
3. Improve the System greatly based on:
a. Design, which deals with managing the format, layout and visual appeal
of the application;
b. Content, which is a set of objects and elements that consist of the nature
and goal of the application, quality and accuracy of the application.
c. Functionality, which assesses the functions and compatibility, fast speed
of interface loading, and proper working of design layout and database.
4. Time-to-time tracks the progress and documents the output of the application.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This significance of the proposed study helps the end-user to receive a notification about
any emergencies in a certain area. The following people or groups will gain from this research:
For the End-user, The ability to easily access the patient's medical record will simplify
work for the medical staff. Through a chatting system of application, the student will be allowed
to be able to consult the university doctor or nurse.
For the Rescuer and Emergency Contacts, The response time of the application will
increase. The more individuals they can save in an emergency thanks to the application.
For the Researchers, They will receive honor for creating the application if this effort is
successful because it will aid in saving lives. Their knowledge and expertise in their area of
specialization would likewise increase as a result.
For the Future Researchers, The study will help other researchers who want to conduct
similar investigations since they can use the findings of this study as a template to adapt their own
research and gain background knowledge.
