The summary provides an overview of the key points regarding a school fundraiser and student council activities: 1. The student council is organizing a fundraiser to sell candy kisses but it is not well prepared yet. Advertising and signups need to be done. Supplies like personalized notes also need to be created. 2. Current student council members should apply to continue next year and new members are being recruited, especially freshmen. Members will talk to interested 8th graders about joining. 3. The student council is volunteering at an upcoming PTA carnival and organizing an exchange with another school's student council.

Kiss the School Year Goodbye Fundraiser

● Thank you note: We have already received a thank you note from the ISU Dance Team
Group for our efforts, but we are not in good shape to hold the fundraiser yet. I would
feel really guilty if our fundraiser does not do well at this point.
Here's where we're at right now and what needs to be done:
● Advertising: No one outside of our group knows about the fundraiser so they won't
know they can buy the items.
○ Lynze is going to make an announcement to have read all next week.
○ I thought there was a group who was going to make a Tuesday Tidbit video
about it, but the last meeting's minutes were not shared with me, so I am not sure
if that was decided or not. If no one has signed up to do this, this needs to be
done Friday or Monday at the latest to get to Mr. Smith.
○ Flyers: Belle is going to get the flyer Lily made approved by administration so we
can hopefully hang them up around the school tomorrow and post to social
media.
■ The last time we had a flyer (spring fling), I printed copies, but no one
came to hang them up. I will not do your jobs as Student Council
members for you.
■ Make sure to come up tomorrow to help hang flyers. It will not take long
as we can only hang them on the bulletin boards once they are approved.
■ Once the flyer is approved, someone needs to share it with Mr. Wakeman
to have posted on the school’s social media accounts.
○ In addition, I think a member should also create a message to send to parents
of seniors so they will be aware and prepared to buy our Kisses at the Awards
Ceremony on Tuesday night. Whoever makes this can send it to Einsweiler,
Smith, and/or Baker to ask to share with senior parents because they have
access to that email list.
● Sign-up: We still have several slots available where no one has signed up yet. Please
sign-up here:

● Personalized notes: I can print them, but we need someone to create these before
Monday when we sell them, so the buyers can fill them out at the time of purchase. The
notes should be small enough to attach or put inside of a small bag of 5 Hershey kisses.
It needs to have a place to write whom the bag is for, who is giving the bag, and a grade
level or seminar for the recipient. We also need to leave enough room for the purchaser
to write his or her message. If we do multiple on one piece of paper, we will need
members to help cut them out.
● Supplies: I have about 140 bags left from a Christmas project I did that I am willing to
donate to the group to use for this project. I also already buy kisses for prizes for my
classroom anyway and am willing to donate some to the project, but we may need to
purchase more in addition to what I already have.

2. Member Recruitment
● Current members: If you are currently a member and would like to be in Student
Council next year, you need to apply. Here is the link to the application form:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1beLzVyX1ap1XUjEQwm0gMopsNU858sbg4zX_7
xcKmOg/edit?usp=sharing. There are also paper copies in the vertical file outside the
office, and I have many in my classroom. These are due back next Friday.
● New members: We need new members to replace those graduating as well as fill
some of the holes we had in some of the classes. For example, we only had two
freshmen members this year, so we need more current freshmen to join. I don’t know
many freshmen, but if you do, reach out to them. In addition, many of you are very busy
with sports and other activities where Student Council is not your priority, but if we have
more people, others can take on more of the load when busy people are not able to
attend. Please physically give people copies of the application if you think they
would be a good addition to Student Council. I have already personally invited about 30
students who are not already in Student Council to join next year, so I hope some will
join, but fellow students are much more convincing than a teacher.
● 8th Graders: Mrs. Glenn, the middle school Student Council advisor, has invited us to
come talk to any 8th graders interested in joining Student Council. Unfortunately, they
only allow Fridays for meetings, and they’ve had some mandatory meetings, so the best
time that works for them is during lunch. She can arrange for a day for us to go down
there to talk to any 8th graders who are interested and answer questions during their
lunch, which is their C Lunch. I have B lunch most days, but can do C Lunch on a
Monday. However, you don’t need me there for that. Vanessa said she might be able to
do it. If there are others who could do it, we just need to plan a day to go down there.
3. PTA Carnival
● This is next Friday. If you are available to help, please sign-up at the link sent to you
by Mr. Smith. Check with your officers if you can’t find the link.

4. Student Council Exchange

● We currently have eight Student Council members who are planning to go to Bondurant
Farrar next Tuesday for the exchange. I can fit 1-2 more on the van, but you’ll need to
get the permission slip taken care of ASAP.
● For the second part of the exchange, Bondurant Farrar students will be coming here on
Friday, May 12th. They will attend classes with some of our members for Periods 1-4
and then we’ll do lunch all together during 5th Period. I have to figure out what room we
can use, but I’ll order pizza for all of us. I need to know who would be willing to have a
Bondurant Farrar student shadow them for half of the day. If you have a lot of
learning labs in the morning, that’s probably not going to be a great experience for them,
but we might still need you. Reyna said she was interested, but I wanted to have a rough
idea of how many would be able to do this.
