Reflection Essay

Throughout the spring semester, my writing skills have improved significantly. The semester
began with me struggling to write clear and concise essays, but as time passed, I gained the knowledge
and confidence to write better. I attribute this growth to several factors.
Firstly, I made use of the resources available to me. I used the discussions and other workshops from my
English class to gain feedback from my professors and peers. Their constructive criticism helped me to
identify my weaknesses and improve upon them. Additionally, I took advantage of the online writing
tools available, such as Grammarly, which helped me spot errors in my writing and improve my sentence
structure. Second, I spent more time practicing my writing for broader audiences. In this class, we spoke
about the general audience and the need to understand our topics and ideas, even if they don't know
the presented information. I also consciously tried to read more, which helped me develop my
vocabulary, sentence structure, and ideas.
In my professional communications class, I have learned valuable skills that will benefit me
academically and professionally. Through this class, I have improved my ability to write professional
emails and create effective presentations. Coming into this class, I had one major goal: improving my
networking skills. As a college student, I understand the importance of building connections in my
chosen field, and I want to develop the skills necessary to do so effectively. To achieve this, I plan to
attend networking events and seek mentorship from professionals in my field. By setting these goals and
actively working towards them, I believe I will be better equipped for success in my future career.
Considering this is a professional communications class, I understand the importance of being
well-prepared for job interviews and presenting a strong resume. To ensure that I am fully equipped for
success, I think mock interviews and presentations of resumes would be essential practice needed for a
professional setting. Mock interviews provide a valuable opportunity to practice answering common
interview questions and gain feedback on my responses. By participating in mock interviews, I can
identify areas I need to improve and improve my communication skills. Additionally, presenting my
resume in a professional setting can help me to identify areas where I need to strengthen my resume
and highlight my accomplishments and skills. Participating in mock interviews and presenting current
resumes will help me and other students feel more confident and prepared for job interviews in the
future. By taking advantage of these opportunities, we can hone professional communication skills and
increase our chances of success in our future careers. Aside from inserting ideas of assignments for this
course I would like to highlight the AR project. This was a different technique that a lot of people use in
today’s world that I think is beneficial however I will say it doesn’t hurt to have a little more guidance
with this type of project an AI that people aren’t used to. Overall I think this course is loaded with
valuable assignments that do develop professional communications so not too many suggestions or
complaints.
