What is Prostate Cancer?
It is a disease in which malignant or
cancerous cells that develop in the
tissues of the prostate. It is is one of the
most common types of cancer. Prostate
cancer is present in the male’s
reproductive system, found in the
prostate gland, the small walnut-shaped
gland located below the bladder and in
front of the rectum.
What is the cause of Prostate Cancer?
With common knowledge, Prostate cancer is caused by changes
in the DNA of a normal prostate cell. Researcher have not
identified the root cause of the cancer. Doctors and scientist
have found the risk factors of the cancer that will help them
learn more about the cancer.
Who is more at risk for Prostate Cancer?
All men are at risk of Prostate cancer.
Male and people assigned male at
birth are affected Prostate cancer.

Females can also get prostate cancer


by affecting their Skene’s gland.

Age is also a risk factor of Prostate


Cancer. Older people have a greater
chance of getting Prostate cancer.
What do I look out for if I feel
like I have Prostate Cancer?
What are the symptoms of Prostate Cancer
● Frequent urination
● Weak or interrupted urine flow
● Pain or burning while urinating
● Frequent urge to urinate at night
● Blood in seminal fluids and urine
● Weak or swollen limbs
● Erectile dysfunction
What do we do to prevent ourselves
from getting Prostate Cancer?
1. Improve our Diet
Even though the relationship between diet and prostate
cancer is still unclear, the studies suggest that certain
eating habits may help with the prevention.

Reduce fat intake. Eat less trans fat and saturated fat in
your diet. Healthy fats such as omega-3 fat is more suitable
when reducing fat intakes.

Eat more fruits and vegetables. Incorporating a wide


variety of produce in our diet can help build our immune
system stronger.

Avoid charred meat. Charred meat from grilling or frying at


high temperatures may produce a chemical compound
that can cause cancer cells to activate
2. Maintain a Healthy Weight
The risk factor that can develop more aggressive prostate cancer is Obesity.
Losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight as you grow older can help
you reduce your risk of cancer and many other health problems.
3. Get Regular Exercise
Getting regular exercise can help you achieve a healthy weight. It can also
reduce inflammation and improve immune function to fight off negative
health effects that can also help in avoiding cancer.
4. Stop Smoking and Drink Less Alcohol
Quitting smoking in general can yelp you in many ways, including
lowering the risk of cancer. If we drink, we must do it responsibly
to avoid health concerns.
5. Increase Your Vitamin D
It can help protect you against prostate cancer and many other conditions.
Eating Vitamin D-rich foods and getting sunlight is recommended when
maintaining healthy lifestyles.
Is there a cure for Prostate Cancer?
Yes…no?
There is no proven cure for prostate cancer yet.
Fortunately, it is treatable for quite some time. Most of
the time, the prostate cancers grows slowly, and with
the help of recent technology, there are now effective
treatment options that extend life even further.
Is there any other way to treat Prostate cancer?
Surgery
Radical prostatectomy is the main type of surgery for prostate cancer. This
procedure removes the entire prostate gland some of the infected tissue
around it, including the seminal vesicles.
Why should you be aware of Prostate cancer?
It is a silent killer disease.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men,
behind lung cancer. “Awareness and Early Diagnosis Saves Lives” is a
campaign that helped spread awareness and encourage the male population
to avoid any risk of prostate cancer.
And most importantly…
Cancer-free Life is a Happy Life!
SPend more time to appreciate what life has to offer, overcome the challenges
that is thrown to us. Wee have been given the chance to live, why not make
the most of it?
