THE PLURAL NUMBER OF NOUNS

Repeat after your teacher:


[s] [z] [iz]
book – books pen – pens box – boxes
desk – desks girl – girls bench – benches
map – maps wall – walls bush – bushes
cat – cats dog – dogs
boy – boys
door – doors
window – windows

! În limba engleză, pluralul substantivelor se formează adăugînd


terminaţia –s, care se citeşte [s], [z] sau –es, care se citeşte [iz]:
one map – two maps [s]
one boy – three boys [z]
one bench – four benches [iz]

Read these words:


maps, girls, doors, boxes, desks, windows, benches, chairs, books, teachers,
pencil-boxes, dogs, cats, lessons, balls, trees.

Give the plural of:


a car - a friend - a bed –
a box - a day - a cup -
a room - a page - a hat –
a bed - a table - a circle -

Read the nouns in the plural using the numbers given in brackets:
e.g. a notebook (25) – twenty-five notebooks

a big apple (10), a small box (4), a new word (34), an expensive dress (3),
an old bench (6), an English book (45), a green tree (11), a white house (7),
a lovely child (2).

Writer a or an.
