TSR-009 - Eng

1. The document provides instructions to improve the centering and alignment of the dispensing probe for the Random Analyzers Model A15. 2. It involves disassembling and adjusting the "Y" axis carriage and needle board, including adjusting an eccentric piece to ensure proper probe movement and alignment along the "Y" axis guide rails. 3. Once reassembled, the document instructs checking the alignment by moving the probe along the full length of the "Y" axis and verifying the needle remains within 2mm of the center point.

Improvement of strength of the arm

Product: Random Analyzers.

Model: A15

Ser. Nr: .....

Subject: Improvement of the assembly of the whole arm and the dispensing
probe.

Subject: To avoid false detection problems and improving the centering of the
probe for both aspirating and dispensing.

Solution: Perform disassembly, assembly and adjustment of the “Y” axis and the
needle board following the instructions below:

1. Disassemble Main cover, Upper cover, Front cover, Spring return cover and
Needle board cover.

2. Remove the needle and disassemble the “Y” carriage belt loosening the
screw and removing the fixing metal plate.

3. Disassemble the return spring set removing the screws of “Y” axis guide
and loosening the fixing screws of the spring return.

4. Disconnect the arm set cables of the needle board and the Teflon tube
cutting the plastic stripes.
Disassemble the probe set sliding it through the “Y” guides.

5. Disassemble the probe set removing the screws that hold the board to the
“Z” axis (zipped)

6. In the block we find the eccentric: a part that ensures the proper
displacement during the “Z” movement of the probe.
In front of the eccentric, there is the roller that we have to fix by
tightening the screw to the maximum and checking the roller rotates properly.
Then, loosen the eccentric up to the point that the roller begins to fall off.

maximum

7. We place the needle board between the eccentric and the roller.
To do the adjustment, we use a gauge of 0,05mm that we place between
the needle board and the eccentric (by its side) tightening the screw to the
maximum and checking that the 0,05mm gauge allows us to do the displacement
movement and the eccentric roller rotates.

To check if the distance is adjusted properly, we change the gauge for one
of the 0,15mm. With this gauge, the movement is not possible.

Gauge 0.15mm DOES NOT

8. Once the movement is checked, fix the eccentric screw with “Loctite 243”
and assemble the set probe.

IMPORTANT! We must verify that the "Z" zip of transmission moves gently
without touching the bearings

9. Disassemble "Y" guides removing the screws and cleaning with a soft paper
or a dry cloth. Once cleaned, put them on their location pressing up to the bottom
and marking with a permanent marker the reference length bar that enters into
the body.

10. Remove the guide again and put fixer "Loctite 641" from the end of bar
that enters the body up to 3 cm before reaching the benchmark.

11. Assemble bars making a rotary motion to introduce and distribute the fixer
the best you can and then, fasten the screws of the bars to the maximum.
Apply fixer "Loctite 415" to the screws

12. Assemble the set of probe (without needle) and return spring on the “Y”
guides.

13. The assembly of the return spring should be done putting the screw of the
guides without tightening to the maximum. Then, with the probe set at “Home”
position (above), tighten the spring turning one and half turn anticlockwise and
tighten the fixing screws up to the maximum.
Check the operation of the spring, dropping the set probe and seeing that
the recovery is correct. If it is necessary to give more strength to the spring,
repeat the process taking a quarter turn more to the spring, reaching a maximum
of 2 turns.

14. Place de needle and manually move the set probe up to the beginning of
the way of “Y” guide to check the right alignment.
Low the needle approximately 1 mm on the central wall racks divider
(racks between 2 and 3) and move the set probe towards the end of the "Y" way
keeping the needle to 1mm on the wall racks divider.

We check that, at the end of the “Y” guide, the needle remains on the wall
racks divider within a maximum 2mm left/right deviation range.

In case the alignment is wrong, without moving the position of the end of
the "Y" way and keeping the needle down, we adjust the slope of the needle by
turning to the proper side from the return spring set.

Once positioned, we tighten up the fixed screws of the “Y” guide to the
maximum, ensuring that the action of tightening does not change the position.
Perform again from beginning to end of the "Y" way to check the alignment.
Once alignment is proper, we fix the screws with “Loctite 415 ".

fixen screws of “Y”
guide and fix them

15. Wait for three hours (minimum) to ensure the proper settlement of the
assembly and then put the “Y” belt loosening the “Y” motor and adjusting the
proper tension of the belt.

17. Assemble all the cases of the instrument and do all arm adjustments with
Service software keeping special attention to adjustments of “Zmax” and
“Sensitivity detection level”.

NOTE: After this procedure, we advise to upgrade with the new metallic Racks.
