BIOMES OF THE WORLD
What is a Biome?
A biome is a large geographical area which is classified
based on the predominant vegetation adapted to that
particular environment.
The climate and geography of a region determines what type
of biome can exist in that region.
Each biome consists of many ecosystems whose communities
have adapted to the small differences in climate, topography
and soil conditions within the biome.
Eight major terrestrial biomes of the world are;
   Tropical forest Temperate grassland
   Savanna Temperate broadleaf forest
   Deserts Taiga (Corniferous forest)
   Chaparral Tundra
Distribution of Biomes
   Climate and
Terrestrial Biomes
Because climate has a
  strong influence on
   the distribution of
 plant species, it is a
     major factor in
    determining the
locations of terrestrial
        biomes
Tropical rain forest
Savanna
