TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
Good morning class! Good morning ma’am!!
Okay class, let us all stand for a prayer. (Students are standing)
Denisse lead the prayer. In the name of the father…Amen! (Students were
assigned to lead the prayer every day from 1 st row to the
last row.)
Once again, good morning! Are you ready for today’s Good morning ma’am, Yes we are ready!
lesson?
Before we proceed to our lesson for today I want
you to remind for something. Please listen.
Okay for every group activity that we are going to do I Yes ma’am
want you to stay SMART or I want to observe your
group with the following indicators: S for share your
ideas, M for maintain silence, A for accepting the other
ideas of the other members, R for respect each other
and T for teamwork, in short your group must be
SMART.
Are we all clear?
Very good!
Pre-Assessment
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
So for now, please get 1/8 sheet of paper for your (Students are getting a 1/8 sheet of paper)
pre- assessment.
Are you ready? Yes ma’am!
(The teacher is flashing the questions on the screen)
1. According to Britannica it is a series of stages
that show the continuous movement and
interchange of water between its 3 phases solid,
liquid and gas in the earth’s atmosphere.
A. Evaporation
B. Condensation
C. Water cycle
D. Precipitation
2. A luminous celestial body around which the earth
and other planets revolve. It also acts as the
primary source of energy that powers the water
cycle on earth.
A. Sun (Students are now answering)
B. Moon
C. Wind
D. Star
3. A French potter and a writer who discovered the
Modern theory of Water Cycle in 1580 CE.
A. Isaac Newton
B. Gregor Mendel
C. Albert Einstein
D. Bernard Palissy
4. Water cycle has 3 major processes one is the
transformation of water from liquid to gas phase
as it moves from the ground or bodies of water
into the overlying atmosphere also known as.
A. Condensation
B. Evaporation
C. Sublimation
D. Transpiration
5. Since our country is a home to more than a
hundred volcanoes, energy has been tapped from
them, what type of energy does a volcano can
give?
A. Geothermal Energy
B. Solar Energy
C. Mechanical Energy
Are you all done? Yes ma’am
Okay, please keep your paper and let’s find out (Students are keeping their paper)
later if you are correct.
Motivation
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
Okay class are you familiar with 4 pics and 1 Yes ma’am
word game?
I’ll show you a picture, you have to guess it and name Yes ma’am
it with the help of jumbled letters just below the
picture. Am I clear?
Group yourselves into 4 and in a ¼ sheet of paper write (Students are grouping themselves)
the names of your members.
Do you all have a group now? Yes ma’am
The first group who will get the correct answer from the Yes ma’am
4 pics and 1 word will get 5 bonus points in our quiz
later, so teamwork is the key. Is it clear?
Very good! Please choose a leader to represent your (Each group is choosing a leader)
group. And if the leader got the correct answer he/she
has to say something about the word.
Okay, are you all ready? Can we start? Yes ma’am
Okay, so let’s start.
(Group 3 leader raised her hand)
(Teacher is flashing the presentation)
E W A T R
Okay, what is this class? (Hanna the group 3 leader raise her hand)
Yes group 3? water ma’am
(Hanna answered)
Correct, can you something about water? For me ma’am, water is very essential to human.
Congratulations group 3 for winning the game. (Students are clapping their hands)
Let’s give them a mosquito clap.
Lesson Proper
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
Okay class, do you have any idea on what we are going It’s all about water ma’am.
to talk about this morning? (One student answered)
Very good! as hanna said earlier that water is very
essential to humans. Let’s talk about how water is
formed and how water moves continuously. Today, we
will be talking about water cycle. So, anyone can define Clyde is raising his hand
water cycle?
Yes clyde? For me maam, water cycle is a process and stages on
how water is formed.
Very good! For now I will play a 6-minute video clip of (Students are preparing their notebook and pen to take
water cycle. So, please watch and listen intently some notes.)
because we will have a quiz later. You can take some
notes.
What have you noticed from the video? Summit ma’am is an external parts of volcano where
the lava comes out, slope is the body of the body and
the base is the lowest part of the volcano
Good, so class Summit is the highest point of the No ma’am
volcano. At this part of the volcano there is an opening
which may either be crater or caldera.
Do you know the difference of crater and caldera?
Okay, crater is a funnel-shaped
opening at the top of a volcano while a caldera is
formed when a part of the wall
collapses following an explosive eruption.
CRATER
CALDERA
Okay so the slope is the side of the volcano where the
lava can flow and the base is the largest part which is
the starting point of the volcano.
Do you understand?
Yes ma’am
So class, the volcano is classified into two, how It is according to their history of eruption.
do volcano is being classified? (One student answered)
Very good, so what are the two classification of Active and Inactive ma’am
volcano?
Very good! How are you going to differentiate them? Active volcano is a type of volcano that has an
history of eruption but Inactive volcano doesn’t have a
history of eruption.
Wow, very good! Yes ma’am
So, Active Volcanoes are those that have a record of
eruption within the last 600 years or those erupted
10,000 years ago based on the analyses of their
materials. It is divided into two namely: Erupting and
Dormant while Inactive Volcano are those that have not
erupted for the last 10,000 years and their physical form
is being changed by agents of weathering and erosion
through formation of deep and long gullies.
So it was mentioned there that an active volcano is also
divided into two, the erupting and dormant, do you know
the difference of the two?
How are the different from each other? Erupting active volcano is the one who is having an
activity of erupting at the moment but dormant active
volcano is the one who has a history of
eruption but they are not erupting lava at the moment.
Very good. Mayon Volcano ma’am
Can you give an example of active volcano? Taal Volcano ma’am
Mount Kanlaon ma’am
Very good, those volcanoes that you have mentioned
are all example of dormant active volcano.
Other examples are Mount Smith which its last record of
eruption was on 1954, it is also called Mount Babuyan
and other example again is Mount Iraya.
Do you have any other examples of active volcano?
None ma’am.
Okay let’s proceed to the example of inactive volcano; Yes ma’am. One example is Mount Arayat
can you cite any other example of
inactive example?
Very good, Mount Alto is also other example of
inactive volcano.
Now, is it already clear on you the difference of Yes ma’am
the two classification of volcanoes?
Now, there is always a positive and negative effect of Due to volcanic eruption, we lost life, we lost our relatives
everything. So, for now, let us talk about the negative and also it will cause the loss of property.
effect of volcano. Can you cite at
least one or two?
Yes that’s true. So here are the common negative
effects of Volcanic eruption, first is loss of life and
property just like what you said, air pollution due to
ashes and gases comes out from the volcano and also
these elements may cause difficulty of breathing, it can
injured us just like burns.
Do you have to add some negative effects the you
Nothing ma’am
know?
Okay so now, let’s have the positive impact of When volcano had its eruption, our soil will be more
volcanoes. Can you cite at least one benefit that fertile that will benefit our plant. The plant
we can get from the volcano? will be gain more nutrients.
Very good. Any other benefits that you can None ma’am
share?
Aside from what you said, volcano also generates our
tourism, they become an asset to our country to gain
more tourist and also the rocks and ash falls that comes
on the volcanic eruption can we used to build something
like house. Yes ma’am
Do you agree?
Is everything clear? Yes ma’am
ACTIVITY:
So now, let’s have an activity, with the same group
earlier. For this activity you need to guess what’s behind
the box. All you just need to do is to raise your answer if
the picture is an example of Active Volcano, Inactive
Volcano or if it is a Positive or Negative impact or
effects of a Volcano. You just need to get 3 points to
win this game.
Yes ma’am
Are we all clear?
So leaders of the group please get your materials (Leaders of the group is getting their material to
here. their science teacher)
Are you all ready? Yes ma’am
Okay let’s start (Group 1 raised Inactive Group 2 and 3 raised Active)
Okay one point for both group 2 and 3.
(Guess behind the box game is still going on until one
group win)
Congratulations group 2 for winning the game. (Students are clapping)
Let’s give the, 5 claps.
ANALYSIS: (Multimedia Presentation)
So for this moment, I need you to listen attentively and
watch the video quietly. Yes ma’am
Are we all clear?
All you just need to do is to know the impacts of Yes ma’am
volcanoes to an individual and community.
Do you understand?
Okay let’s watch now. (Students are watching the video)
So now please get a whole sheet of paper or a one Yes ma’am
short bond paper. So for this side (left side) all you need
to do is to draw the positive impact of volcano and to
this side (right side) is the negative impact of volcano.
Is it clear?
Okay you may start now. (Students are doing their activity)
Are you done? Not yet ma’am.
Okay, last 3 minutes.
(After 3 minutes) Are you all done?
Yes ma’am
Okay please pass your paper.
ABSTRACTION:
Are you familiar with the word graphic organizer? Yes ma’am
Okay what is it? It is a visual representation of ideas ma’am in
organize manner.
Okay very good, so now I will show words in the screen, Yes ma’am
all you need to do is to organize using a
graphic organizer. Is it clear?
Okay please get one half sheet of paper and answer the
following.
VOLCANO PINATUBO
POSITIVE NEGATIVE DIDICAS
BURNS
TOURISM ARAYAT
ACTIVEINACTIVE (Students are doing their activity)
SLOPE CARILAO
SUMMIT BASE
Are you all done? Yes ma’am
Okay please pass your paper. (Students is passing their papers)
Okay I’ll pick one students to explain his or her work.
Okay, Jenny please stands up and explains your work. Jenny: Classmates this is my work
Our topic for today is all about volcano, it has 3 external
parts the summit, slope and base. Volcanoes are
classified according to its history of eruption, the one who
has the history of eruption is called active volcano an
example of this is Pinatubo and Didicas while the volcano
who doesn’t have any history of eruption is called
Inactive volcano an example of this is Carilao and Arayat.
Volcanoes also has positive impact like in our tourism
and negative like
burns.
Very good Jenny. Who among of you has the (Students with the same answer with Jenny are
same answer of with Jenny? raising their hand)
Very good everyone.
APPLICATION: (Role Playing)
So for this time, your acting skills will be measured. You
need to act the scenario that will be given to you. Your
groupings are composed of the same member you have Yes ma’am
earlier. Are we clear?
So this is the scenario:
You need to show on your role playing the benefits or
advantages of having a volcano in your area or the
benefit we can get after volcanic eruption years ago.
Is it clear? All groups: Yes ma’am
So you are going to be graded by this rubrics (Teacher is
distributing the rubrics to the group) Please read the
rubrics as your guide in your Yes ma’am
activity. Understand?
Okay, I am giving you 5 minutes to have a group (All groups is having a group discussion)
discussion.
Okay 5 minutes is over, please perform group 1. (Group 1 is performing)
Very good, give them 5 claps. (Students are clapping)
Okay group 2, please proceed (Group 2 is performing)
Very good group 2, please give the 5 claps too. (Students are clapping)
Okay group 3, please proceed. (Group 3 is performing)
Very good group 3, please give them 5 claps too. (Students are clapping)
Good job class, you portray very well.
VALUES INTEGRATION
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
I have a question to you class.
Have you become a volcano in your life? Yes ma’am
How? By letting angry take over us.
Yes that’s true. So if you feel angry or something like
you are about to explode. Please count 1 to 10 or more
to calm yourself. If you think that you are calm now, it
is time for you to say something or better no to say
anything, because once you said foul words and below
the belt due to anger it
will be forever remembered by the person you talked. Yes ma’am
Is it clear?
Always think class, be calm.
ASSESSMENT
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
For now please get the 1/8 sheet of paper that you (Students is getting their 1/8 sheet of paper)
keep earlier.
So now, at the back of your 1/8 sheet of paper please
answer the following questions.
Do you understand? Yes ma’am
So let us start now.

4. Volcanoes are renowned for their destructive
power but volcanoes are actually a productive
force as well. Which of the following below is a
benefit of volcano?
A. Volcanic eruptions result in ash will be
containing varying amount of soil nutrients that
can help for soil enrichment.
B. Volcaniclastic rocks that fall violently to the
ground that can damage road.
C. Erupted gases that are dangerous if human
inhaled it.
