FILE WEEKLY CLAIMS

■ Start claiming weeks right away, even if you are awaiting a decision. You will not be paid for weeks
not claimed.
Your first scheduled filing date is 04/30/2023
■ The easiest way to file weekly claims is online at https://unemployment.ohio.gov. The website is
available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you have chosen to file claims online, you will be
prompted to log in using your secure OH|ID. An OH|ID is an online user account that provides a
secure, personalized experience for Ohioans to interact with state agencies and access state
programs and services, all with a single username and password.
■ As an alternative, if you do not have internet access or if you need assistance, you may file weekly
claims by phone at (877) OHIO-JOB (1-877-644-6562) or TTY at (888) 642-8203. If you choose to file
claims by phone, you will be prompted to provide the Personal Identification Number (PIN) that was
provided to you in order to verify your identity.
■ If a customer service representative helped you file your first claim, and if you would like to file future
claims yourself online, the first time you log into your unemployment account, you will be required to
enter your username (Social Security number) and PIN. You then will be directed to a web page
where you can create a secure OH|ID, if you do not already have one. You will use your OH|ID to log
in to your unemployment account going forward.
■ Weekly claims cannot be filed until after the week is over. Weeks begin on Sunday and end on
Saturday.
■ Weekly claims must be filed within three weeks of the end of the week to be considered for payment.
Please note: report all earnings you made in the week, even if you have not yet been paid.Ohio law
requires that unemployment claimants serve a one-week waiting period after they file a new
application for benefits. The waiting week is the first week you file a claim for benefits and meet all of
the eligibility requirements. No benefits are paid for this first week. Even if you are unemployed for
only one week, you still must complete the weekly claim to fulfill your waiting week requirement for
the benefit year. Do not wait to file for your waiting week.
