OBJECTIVES:

To identify the cause and effect relationship between two or more event, paragraph structure
and appropriate use of subject and verb agreement, all of them necessary to analyze text
related to their degree course.

To apply the rhetorical function of cause and effect, paragraph structure and correct use of
verbs, when analyzing event related to each other, found in text of their mayor

To write cause-effect sentences using appropriate subject-and-verb agreement.

SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT: EXERCISES

In writing, subjects and present-tense verbs must agree: if the subject is singular, so is the
verb; if the subject is plural, so is the verb.

I.IN THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES, CHANGE THE VERB IN PARENTHESES THAT AGREES WITH
ITS SUBJECT IF IT NECESSARY.

1. Anna and I  (go) to the movie theater every Friday.

2. Those apples   (taste) so good that I can't stop eating them.

3. My mother never  (come) with us to the beach.

4. Jose  (cry) all the time.

5. Fifi    (bury) his toys in the yard.

6. We    (spoil) our daughter too much.

7. The radio  (turn off) by itself time to time.

8. It    (be) always nice to go on a family road trip.

9. The children   (sleep) early.

II. CHOOSE THE CORRECT FORM OF THE VERB THAT AGREES WITH THE SUBJECT.

IV. MATCH THE VERB IN PARENTHESES WITH THE SUBJECT CORRECTLY

The education of teenagers is faced with new challenges and opportunities as a result of the

than was previously possible. According to a survey of Advanced Placement and National
