GENERAL DESCRIPTION
• The ragdoll is a very laid
back cat with no
extreme features.
• They are a medium to
large, moderately
longhaired, blue-eyed
pointed cat.
• Slow maturing, reaching
full coat and color at
three years of age.

giving the impression of graceful movement and
subdued power, striking in appearance.

HEAD DESCRIPTION
• Broad modified wedge
equilateral in shape –
measured from outer
base of ears to gently
rounded muzzle.
• Cheeks in line with
wedge (allow for jowls
in adult males).
• Flat plane between the
ears.
EYES AND EARS DESCRIPTION
• Eyes: large, vivid blue ovals.
Wide set and moderately
slanted complementing the
wedge.
• Ears: medium sized. Wide
set and moderately flared,
continuing line of wedge.
Wide at base, rounded tips,
and tilted forward.
PROFILE, CHIN, NECK DESCRIPTION
• Profile slightly curving,
ending in straight,
medium-length nose.
• Chin well developed,
strong, in line with nose
and upper lip.
• Neck heavy and strong.

• Large and long, broad and solid with heavy boning ... 15
• Rectangular in shape, with a full chest and equal width
across the shoulders and hindquarters, firm and
muscular, stomach pad allowed … 10

PENALTIES
• Coat: Thick undercoat
standing off from body.
• Body: Cobby body low
on legs.
• Tail: Short tail; non-
directional lump on tail
• Eyes: Small or round
• Nose: roman nose
DISQUALIFICATIONS
• Nose: any break.
• Color: body and point
color other than those
listed, eyes other than
blue.
• Various: Directional kink
in tail. Crossed eyes.

COLORS
• Six point colors:
• Seal, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Red, Cream
• Points may be solid, lynx and particolored.
• All Ragdolls are pointed but points may be partially
overlaid with white in some patterns.

• Body:
• Even, subtle shading is
permissible, but clear color
is preferable.
• Allowance should be made
for darker color in older cats
as Ragdolls darken with age,
but there must be definite
contrast between point and
body color.

• Mask, ears, legs, feet,
tail dense and clearly
defined.
• No ticking in points.
• Stomach pad may have
darker shading (in
mitted and colorpoint
patterns).
RAGDOLL PATTERNS
BICOLOR PATTERN
• White inverted ‘V’
remains within outer
edge of eyes.
• Symmetry preferred.
• Upper body may show
white spotting.
• Legs and feet: all white
preferred but may show
minor dark spots.
BICOLOR PATTERN FAULTS
• Penalize ‘V’ that extends
beyond outer edge of
eyes, or excessively
asymmetrical. White on
ears
• DQ ‘V’ absent or has
dark spotting. Extensive
color on any legs.
VAN PATTERN
• Point color restricted to
ears, tail and mask.
• Mask often restricted to
top part only.
• Penalize: more than
20% color on body.
• DQ: total absence of
point color on head or
tail.
MITTED PATTERN
• May have a white blaze in
the shape of a star,
diamond, hour-glass or line
in one patch or broken,
centrally and symmetrically
located anywhere from the
top of the nose leather to
the forehead.
• Chin must be white and
extend into a white belly
stripe.

• White mittens present
on both front feet,
evenly matched,
preferably going around
the wrist joint.
• White boots in the back
must go up to and
completely around the
hock but no higher than
mid-thigh.
MITTED PATTERN FAULT
• Disqualify: Lack of a
white chin…
COLORPOINT PATTERN
• Pointed colors only.
• Shading allowed in older
cats but definite
contrast must be seen
between body and point
color.
• DQ: presence of any
locket or white spot
anywhere on cat’s body
(including toes and tail
tip).
