I. Cấu trúc USED TO
1. Khái niệm
Cấu trúc used to được sử dụng để nói về một thói quen, hành động, sự kiện hoặc trạng
thái đã từng xảy ra trong quá khứ và không còn xảy ra trong hiện tại nữa. Đôi khi nó được
dùng để nhấn mạnh về sự khác biệt giữa hiện thực và quá khứ.
2. Công thức
Công thức Ví dụ
Khẳng định S + used to + V-inf I used to study until 1:00 AM (Trước
kia, tôi thường học tới 1 giờ sáng)
Phủ định S + did not + use to + V-inf They didn’t use to go to school
together (Ngày trước họ không đi học
cùng nhau)
Nghi vấn Did + S + use to + V-inf Did he use to drink coffee? (Ngày
trước anh ấy có uống cafe không?)

3. Lưu ý
a) Phủ định của cấu trúc used to V có thể được viết dưới dạng used not to V. Ví dụ:
- I used not to go swimming.
- She used not to drink that much coffee.
b) Cấu trúc Used to không thể sử dụng ở thì hiện tại: Nếu bạn muốn diễn tả về thói quen
trong hiện tại, bạn có thể sử dụng các từ chỉ tần suất như: Usually, always, often,
never,..

II. Cấu trúc BE/GET USED TO

1. Khái niệm
Cấu trúc Be Used to Ving được sử dụng để diễn tả ai đó đã từng làm việc gì đó nhiều
lần và đã có kinh nghiệm trong việc đó/ đã quen với điều gì đó.
Cấu trúc Get Used to có nghĩa là dần quen với một việc gì đó.

Phủ định S + tobe + not + used to + V-ing - They aren’t used to going to school
S + do/does not + get + used to + V-ing together
- I couldn’t get used to the noisy
neighborhood, so I moved
Nghi vấn Tobe + S + used to + V-ing? - Is he used to drinking coffee
Do/does + get + S + used to + V-ing? - Has you gotten used to your boss
