Don Juan Tenorio
The first part begins in the middle of the Golden Age, in Seville, where Don Juan Tenorio and Don
Luis Mejía meet again to compare feats and determine which of them is the most womanizing and
vile, with the former taking the lead. Thus, they make a new bet, in which Don Juan assures that
he can rob Don Luis's fiancée, Doña Ana de Pantoja, as well as a young novice.
Aware of the challenge, Don Gonzalo de Ulloa, Commander and father of Doña Inés, who will
marry Don Juan when he leaves the convent, refuses such a link. However, Don Juan kidnaps Doña
Inés and they both fall madly in love, which causes the gallant to face Don Gonzalo and Don Luis in
a duel, with the lady's father and the other nobleman being killed in the same.
This is how Don Juan flees to Italy and the first part ends.
After 5 years, Don Juan returns to Seville and visits the cemetery where the remains of Don
Gonzalo and Don Luis rest, and also those of Doña Inés, who died of grief at not being able to be
with her lover who fled to Italy. Thus it is known that Doña Inés made a bet with God, to whom
she asks for her own salvation and that of Don Juan if she manages to make him repent of her
actions before dying. Otherwise, they will be damned for all eternity.
At Don Juan's house, the spirit of Don Gonzalo appears, trying to take him to hell. However, he
also makes an appearance that of Doña Inés, who begs him to repent. Finally, the lady wins the
bet and Don Juan dies, however, both are saved and remain together in heaven.
