“Success is in the journey and not the destination.
President Managing risk and making sound decisions is in the steps of the journey…”
Liz Boyer - Jeffrey Magee
637-0373 I wanted to share this quote with you, because it is a reflection of what the Jaycees are
Community VP about. Being a Jaycee we can screw up a project, but we will still be successful
Kim Clapper because we will learn from our mistakes and will be able to fix them the next time.
632-3229 Busy, busy, busy...October is here! Being a Hanover Jaycee we all know that October
Individual VP
is the busiest month on the calendar. We start out the month with our Membership
Matt Boyer Meeting on Thursday, October 5th. Then the first and second weekends we are making
812-1490 Apple Jelly at the National Apple Harvest Festival. Right after that we have the Miss
Financial VP Hanover Pageant. Then if you have not had enough, we have our 65th Annual Hanover
Scott Strausbaugh Halloween Parade in there. If that is still not enough, I am sure our neighboring Jaycee
632-0646 chapters would appreciate the help for their Halloween Parades.
Membership VP
Last evening I attended our 1st Art Auction, I believe everyone that attended had a good
Lori Noel time. Bryan, is that a 6 or a 9? Bryan Barrick and I had a hard time telling what number
630-0459 we had. Bryan had #9 and I had #6. Thank you to everyone that helped and thank you
Treasurer to Deb Baber, Chairman for stepping up to take on the new challenge!
Brenda Chenault
637-9459 Earlier in the month we celebrated our 65th Anniversary. The evening was full of fun
Secretary and a lot of history and stories being passed around. We had 16 Past Presidents come
out and talk about their year as President. Hopefully we will be able to continue having
Deb Baber something like this in the future, with the Past Presidents. Thank you to all who came
624-9239 out for the evening.
451-1494 (cell)
Chairman of the Board Like I said previously, we have a lot of great projects (opportunities) coming up. We
need everyone to come out and put in some time and maybe even learn something
Katie Rohrbaugh
while helping. Also this is a great time to bring any friends out that may be interested in
637-1259
Director joining the Jaycees. We just celebrated our 65 years, do we want to continue this great
organization, I know I sure do.
Open
Director “He that does good to another does also good to himself;

BACKPACK FOR KIDS!! Thank you Karen Sentz for doing such an AWESOME job!
Because this is a new project, and we were so successful with it, I have included a letter
of thanks that we received from the Red Cross!
HANOVER HALLOWEEN PARADE! YES! THE TIME HAS COME!!!
And WE NEED YOU! Every person in this chapter plays a crucial part in
making our biggest, most popular project a success! The parade is on October
26. However much time you can give to help BEFORE the parade and DURING
the parade is much needed and would be greatly appreciated! And we’ll make
sure you don’t miss a minute of it! If interested in helping out, please call Kim
Leese or Brenda Chenault! Thanks in advance for your support and help!
Adopt-A-Highway! Thanks to Adam Martin for doing such a great job with
Adopt-A-Highway this year! But we certainly could use everyone’s help! Our last
Adopt-A-Highway will be held on November 12. We’ll meet at the chapter house at
1:00pm. Afterwards, I’ll provide a nice, warm treat for everyone! If you haven’t
helped out yet this year, this is a great opportunity for you! It’s a small project that
doesn’t take long, but you will be making a HUGE difference to our community! Last
time we had a gentleman stop in the middle of the road to thank us!
Senior Citizen’s Thanksgiving Social! The Thanksgiving social is a
time for the Jaycees to get out and interact with our elders. The social
will be held November 19. Tammy Trish will be working with her
daughter to help some older folks in our community have a nice dinner
and share in a special day! If interested in helping out and socializing
with people who have lived our community a long time and have some
great stories, contact Tammy!
For more information about ANY of our Community Projects, please call me at (717)-968-3203!
The Financial Times
Matt Boyer, 2006 Financial Vice President
Coming up next is the Apple Harvest Festival. This is being held on the
first and second weekends of October 7 & 8, 14 & 15, 8 am to 6 pm. We
are working hard on having the Jelly Stand ready to go when the gates
open, and will need people to help make and sell on those days, both am
and pm. Passes are available for those who will be helping. If you will be
able to assist, please contact me at 717-873-5986 or boyerm97@aol.com,
so that a pass can be provided to you.
Another great project in October, the Miss Hanover
Pageant is being held Monday, October 23 at the
Hanover High School, beginning at 7 pm. Fifteen
girls will be participating this year. Rehearsals are
Monday October 16 and Wednesday October 18, if
you would like to help please contact Manpower Sub
chair Jessica Crouse @ 968-5162.
On Wednesday, November 29 will be the Cadillac of Banquets. No
longer a Cadillac the top prize, but $10,000 is a fair amount. Smaller
prizes as well. For $100 a ticket, it includes two meals, open bar, and
one chance in the drawing. Help is needed at the bar, small games of
chance, and other areas throughout the evening. Postcards have been
sent out publicizing this banquet, and tickets
will be available for sale. If you can help,
please contact me @ 717-873-5986.
Bingo is next scheduled for Friday, October 20. Three people will help out
for Hanover. There are still two more dates on November 17 and December
15, and a third that we are planning to add. If you are able to help with any
of those dates, or might be interested in helping and possibly schedule a date
for you, please contact me @ 717-873-5986.
Great job Deb with the first Annual Art Auction! If you like art, either to collect
or just to look at it, the auction was something to go to. From Rembrandt to
Rockwell, from Nipple to Monet (the auctioneer jokingly opened the bid at $1.4
million), from Sports paraphernalia to Kinkade. Quite a few pictures were sold.
If you missed the first, come help and see the 2nd. Again, great job!
