Stair Pressurization Calculation

This document provides details needed to calculate the required pressurization of a building staircase. It includes the building height, whether sprinklers are provided, stairwell dimensions, number of doors and their sizes, and leakage ratios for walls, floors, and ceilings. Calculations are shown to determine the total leakage area and airflow through gaps and doors. The required relief airflow and size of the relief damper are then calculated based on the total airflow needed to maintain positive pressurization of the stairwell.

CALCULATIONS English Unit Conversion

1.0 Leakage area of gaps in Stairwell Walls, Ceiling & Floor 0.000 sq. m. - Sq. feet
2.0 Leakage area of gaps around doors 0.000 sq. m. - Sq. feet
3.0 Total Leakage Area (A) of gaps in Building Construction and Doors 0.000 sq. m. - Sq. feet
4.0 Airflow Through Gaps in Building Construction & Doors (Q1)

Q1 & Q2 = kf x A x (△P)^(0.5) 0.000 Cu.m/sec) - CFM

Where: Q1&Q2 = Flowrate (cu.m/sec)

Kf =Coefficient, 0.827
A = Total Leakage Area (Wall,Floor,Ceiling & Doors/Window), Sq.m.
△P = Pressure Differential between staircase & adjacent area, Pascal (Pa)
