CHRISTMAS STORY – to be read by Father Christmas (Darren)

(Background music - "Mary's Boy Child")

Once upon a time,


A long, long time ago.
Begins the story of a baby,
That most of you should know.

His daddy's name was Joseph,


And Mary was His mum,
This babe was very special
He was God's only Son.

(In comes Mary holding a baby doll and Joseph. They go where the crib
is which is opposite Father Christmas. Mary puts the doll in the crib.
Mary and Joseph kneels one each side of the crib.)

(Background music – “"Hark the Herald Angels Sing")

Some angels came from heaven,


And they began to sing.
To the shepherds in the fields below,
"Glad tidings do we bring!"

(In comes Angel. Goes towards Joseph and stays there)

A bright star lit the heavens,


To light the magi's way,
To the baby in the manger
Who was born on Christmas day.

(In comes a Star. Goes towards Mary and stays there. Leads everyone
in singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Christmas Star”)
(Lyrics will be in transparency and displayed on opaque projector))

And all who gathered round Him,


Rejoiced and praised His birth.
For the babe, the King, named Jesus,
Is our Saviour here on earth!

(In comes the Three Kings. Goes towards the crib and stays there)

(All sing "We wish you a Merry Christmas”)


(Lyrics will be in transparency and displayed on opaque projector))

COSTUME
• Mary – Farmer’s wife with blue tinsel on head
• Joseph – Fred Bags with green tinsel on head
• Angel – hip hop clothes with halo and wings
• Star – Movie star holding a star
• Three Kings – Kiwi Farmers i.e. gumboots, floppy hat, checkered shirt
with gold tinsel on hat
