 2. Complete the sentences with the present continuous or the simple
present form of the verbs in parentheses.  

  

1. We can’t have a picnic today. It  is  raining. (rain)  

2. She often meet her friends here. (meet).  

3. Turn that music down! The children are sleeping. (sleep)  

4. The train’s are really busy because everyone is  going to work


right now. (go)   

5.  Amazing how much she looks like her mom. (look like).  

6. Can you turn off the TV, please, if you aren’t watching it? (not
watch).  

7. He doesn’t wear a suit to work, except when he has an


important meeting. (not wear)  

8. I can’t talk while I am driving. I’ll call you later. (drive)  

1   Complete the sentences with the correct forms of the verbs. Listen and

It’s a beautiful day. Why are you carring an umbrella and wearing a coat?

Could you take me to the party, please? Brian says he can give me a ride


home.

Look forward to/Expect

arrive at any minute.

Don’t tell  her about the party. Charlotte says that she loves surprises!  

Miss/Lose  

Here are our tickets. Don’t lose them! I don’t want to miss the beginning of


the movie.  

Hope/Wait  

I’m waiting for you at the restaurant. I hope you’re not going to be late.  

Win/Earn  

He doesn’t earn very much money as a writer, although he wins a lot of


competitions.

Remember/Remind  

I have to remember to buy some eggs. If I forget, can you


please remind me?
