Refraction of Waves

This diagram shows the refraction of waves as they pass from a shallow region to a deep region and vice versa. The waves bend or refract as they move from an area where the waves travel more slowly to an area where they travel faster. The amount of bending depends on the difference in depth between the two regions and the direction of travel of the waves.
