Text: Gen 1:27-30
• 27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
created he him; male and female created he them.
• 28. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every
living thing that moveth upon the earth.
• 29. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed,
which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is
the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
• 30. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and
to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I
have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

• God’s dominion is demonstrated in the creation story.
• The earth was formless and void but God restored complete
order and the beautiful things you see around are the products
of God creation and dominion.

Created for Dominion..

fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and
have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the
air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
• And subdue it, and have dominion!
• That is an order, man must subdue the earth and exercise
dominion over it.
• Your dominion is an exercise of obedience to God’s directives.

5
Created for Dominion..
• Psa 8:3-9
• 3. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the
stars, which thou hast ordained;
• 4. What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that
thou visitest him?
• 5. For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned
him with glory and honour.
• 6. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou
hast put all things under his feet:
• 7. All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
• 8. The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth
through the paths of the seas.
• 9. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

6

hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

• 8. The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth
through the paths of the seas.
• 9. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

7
How to we exercise Dominion?
• 1. Through voluntary sacrifice to God
• Jdg 5:1-2

saying,
• 2. Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people
willingly offered themselves.

shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

• Gen 37:8-10
• 8. And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or
shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the
more for his dreams, and for his words.
• 9. And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and
said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and
the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
• 10. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father
rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast
dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow
down ourselves to thee to the earth?

they were consumed.
