NARRATIVE REPORT
ON LEARNING ACTION CELL SESSION
ABOUT DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION TO CATER LEARNERS’ NEEDS,
INTERESTS, AND EXPERIENCES AND TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCES
APPROPRIATE TO LEARNING GOALS

Education should be engaging and fun, and how we teach in schools should foster a love
for learning in our learners. “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and
I learn.” (Benjamin Franklin). This quote describes how important it is to engage the learners
and involve them in the learning process and this may be achieved through doing experiential
activities in lessons, exploring the outdoors, using a variety of media/technology, or having
students design their own projects.
As Alaminos City National High School continues to forge forward to achieve quality
education, the teaching staff of the Senior High School Department conducted their Learning
Action Cell on the 2nd of June 2023 at the Learning Resource Room. This LAC session started
at 9:00 AM and ended at 11:30 AM for the Batch 1 and resumed at 1:00 PM and ended at 3:30
PM for the Batch 2 where differentiated instruction and teaching and learning resources are
discussed.
Minutes before the session started, the participants were asked to sign in for their
attendance. In the morning session, the meeting was officially commenced with a warm greeting
and an introduction of the agenda by Mrs. Maolen R. Ranin followed by the opening prayer led
by Mrs. Yolanda R. Lopez. And in the afternoon session Miss Marielle C. Bugarin was the
emcee of the meeting who had a warm greeting and welcome to everyone. It was followed
immediately by Mrs. Sally B. Romero who led a prayer to acknowledge God’s presence and to
offer gratitude for His countless blessings and guidance.
The resource speaker of the session, Dr. Sharamae R. Garcia started her discussion with a
fun activity to get the interest of the participants. Afterwards, she put an emphasis on the
formula: Readiness + Interest = Engagement. She then further discussed that students’ interest in
a topic holds so much power. “When a topic connects to what students like to do, engagement
deepens as they willingly spend time thinking, interacting, and creating ideas in meaningful

ways”, she added. Furthermore, she discussed learning contextual to real-world experiences is a
key learning technique with differentiating for learners’ interests. As the discussion continues,
she asked the participants to share their thoughts about differentiated instruction. She added that
the importance of differentiated instruction for teachers is to help them become more effective
educators by providing them with a tool to meet the needs of all their students. Hence, for the
learners to provide them a more personalized learning experience that allows them to reach their
fullest potential. She then gave a motivational quotation saying, “A differentiated classroom
should still feel like a community. It shouldn’t be like we’re in three classrooms,” by Nancy
Anderson which have reminded everyone that every learner is different in their own ways and
that they are capable of something which should be given appreciation by educators. Withal, she
also provided ways on giving differentiated instruction for the learners.
After the interactive discussion, Mr. Jose Ramil A. Sibun, OIC Asst. Principal II –
Academics extended his gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Sharamae R. Garcia. He also gave his
warm regards to the participants and reminded them that it is very important to give what is best
for the learners to achieve high quality education.
