ON LEARNING ACTION CELL SESSION
ABOUT JOB EMBEDDED LEARNING
February 22, 2023

Teachers play a crucial role in improving the quality of the teaching and learning process.
Thus, effective school leaders embed professional learning needs into the school schedule and
each teacher’s day because learning is part of day-to-day practice to ensure high-quality
education. Therefore, the Alaminos City National Highschool (Senior Highschool Department)
conducted a School Learning Action Cell (LAC) session on February 22, 2023 with the topic
Job-Embedded Learning (JEL).

The program began with an energetic welcome by Sir Alvin Pamo who is the emcee for
the session and followed by Sir Lionel R. Gubatan who led the prayer. Afterwards, an ice
breaker through a Zumba dance video presentation was danced by the participants to boost their
energy. The first speaker was Dr. Rosendo C. Bernabe Jr., Master Teacher II, who discussed the
Definition and Importance of Job Embedded Learning (JEL). He has imparted a lot of insights
and realization to us educators. He emphasized that JEL refers to the learning that is grounded in
the daily work of teachers. He also said that it is characterized as learning by doing and
encourages teachers to actively engage in and reflect on their practices. He also added that the
importance of JEL was to provide teachers with greater access to more learning opportunities
which results in development of higher levels of self-efficacy to positively impact student
learning. He was followed immediately by Dr. Lorna C. Cabanayan, Master Teacher III, who
discussed about the Components of Expected Performance Improvement such as Competencies
for Development, Key Result Areas, Expected Improvement in Performance and Indicator and
Means of Verification. She discussed that JEL is an essential tool for improving the teaching and
learning process. Teachers planning collaboratively and questioning what else they could do to
enrich the learning experiences for the learners, intentionally working to individualize learning
opportunities and interactions to ensure high-quality education. The 3rd lecturer was Dr. Lovelie
V. Verceles, Master Teacher III, who taught us about writing an output on Job Embedded
Learning Plan. And lastly, the session was ended with a reflection and closing remarks by Dr.
Cynthia G. Oineza.

It was indeed an afternoon full of knowledge and wisdom. The discussants foster
conditions necessary for teachers to transfer new skills into practice within a strong system of

support. Truly, Job-embedded Learning (JEL) was a primary vehicle for advancing the
knowledge, skills, dispositions of the leaders and teachers. To ensure a culture of collaboration,
excellence and improvement, we must increase teaching effectiveness for the learners and
confront a challenging paradox: intensive monitoring and professional development focused on
classroom quality through this intervention.
