INTRODUCTION
P
ile Foundations are increasingly being used in the construction of residential and commercial
buildings, bridges, wind turbines and many other infrastructure projects. Testing of these
foundations is becoming a challenge in many projects, due to their increased diameter, huge
design loads, time and space constraints and ground variability. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of pile
and deep foundations is now an integral part of deep foundation industry as assessment of most of the
working piles today is done using NDT. The current trend is to conduct a combination of various integrity
methods like sonic and low strain integrity tests at a project site supplemented by high strain dynamic
testing on selected piles. Recent introduction of Tomography for CSL testing, SHAPE for PROFILE of pile
/ wall panels, SQUID to estimate soft toe or UBC at pile bottom has attracted lot of attention from
researchers, academicians and working professionals. Although engineers are aware of some of these
technologies and while others may be new, there is still a considerable lack of information on the
methods used for evaluation, test limitation and the benefits that can be derived from these methods.
The testing companies need upgradation in knowledge, whereas the project Engineer also needs
additional information and tools to monitor the results of variety of these test methods since lack of
proper understanding of any of these methods may lead to disastrous consequences on projects.
T
he current workshop is specifically designed to upgrade the Engineers' knowledge on the existing
test methods, their understanding and evaluation. It also introduces them to newer methods
that are now available and are likely to be popular within the next few years in the Indian deep
foundation industry. The workshop provides futuristic technologies of monitoring deep foundations
remotely with data transferred to cloud in real time. This two-day workshop is designed in such a way
that the first day encompasses all the current and new methods, whereas the second day is dedicated to
focused training on high strain dynamic testing.
NOTE: Interested delegates may also avail the opportunity of appearing for the PDCA exam that
certifies the knowledge of the tester before being allowed to evaluate or certify the reports of HSDPT.
TENTATIVE PROGRAM__
