 What is SRQn 6 about?
● SRQ6 tests students on the concepts they learnt in Social Studies
● There are 3 broad question types:
○ CAUSE and EFFECT
■ Explain why a particular societal issue happened in Singapore
○ IMPACT
■ Explain what will happened in Singapore if this societal issue
continues
○ SOLUTION
■ Explain solutions that can solve societal issues in Singapore
 How to present the answer for SRQn6?
● Paragraph format remains similar to SRQ7
1. Follow phrasing of Qn and state your POINT / TOPIC SENTENCE
■ Your POINT / TOPIC SENTENCE should answer the question directly
2. Briefly describe your point / idea
3. Use an EXAMPLE to illustrate your point / idea
4. For fictitious examples, be as descriptive as possible so that you have
enough to explain your logic
5. From your EXAMPLE, EXPLAIN how it shows either CAUSE/EFFECT, IMPACT
or SOLUTION (lead to changing mindsets / behaviour so that problem will
disappear

ago. Amy is Chinese and she posted on Facebook mocking Malays who hold their
weddings at void decks.

Based on example, This can cause misunderstandings between the Chinese and Malay communities
EXPLAIN the because it can seem like the Chinese look down on the Malays. On the internet
cause-effect that will where keyboard warriors can be anonymous, it becomes easier for people to post
change mindsets rude remarks and further worsen the tensions, leading to racist behavior against
one another. Hence I think the internet is the reason why there are increasing
racism in Singapore.
