MGE-G, MLE-G Features and benefits
• Modular design. The choice among different functional modules and control panels enables
different variants
• Compact design
• Available with UL recognition cUR/US
• Plug connection for external wires enables easy service and installation
• Service set-up where mounting of control panels and functional modules will be carried out by
the service engineer. This will reduce the required stock of service parts.
• Factory-configured with the required application set-up, so the only set-up to be made at the
commissioning is setting the setpoint
• Can be operated by means of R100 and PC Tool E-Products
• Control based on sensor feedback to internal PI regulator
• Duty/stand by function
• Setpoint adjustable by means of external signal
• Digital inputs for external control
• Relay for warning, operation and fault
• Wide voltage range (380 - 480 V)
• The same MGE-G motor can be used for both 50 Hz and 60 Hz operation
• High speed operation
• IE2 and IE3 standard motor used
• Energy optimization
• Robustness.
The common features and benefits for E-motors in general described in the common information
also apply to MGE-G and MLE-G.

3. Main components
In order to give a good overview of the construction of an E-motor, we have chosen to split it up in
the five major components illustrated in the drawing below.
The components are not drawn to scale but intended to illustrate that the physical difference in size
is related to the power rating of the motor, see table below the drawing.
Fig. 1 Overview of basic components of MGE-G, MLE-G and MGE-F, MLE-F in frame size 132
This table lists the power ranges covered by the three terminal box sizes 4A, 4B and 4C.

Coating procedure
1. Surface preparation: Sand-blasting.
2. Finishing coat: Cathodic electro-coating, thickness 18 μm.
The colour is black: NCS 9000 gloss 40 ±10.
Other colours than the black electro-coating are available.
The inner stator bore surface is corrosion protected by means of a liquid, and this combined with
the painted rotor surface makes the motor resistant towards high humidity.
Standard
On the basis of market experience Grundfos estimates that MGE-G and MLE-G motors fulfil climate
group ‘Moderate’ to DIN IEC 60 721, Part 2-1 for indoor and outdoor installation.
Motors provided with a coating on top of the electro-coating are still categorized as climate group
‘Moderate.
Note: Tropical protection cannot be offered.

12.8 EMC
Emission:
Comply with the limits in EN 61 800-3 for the first environment (residential areas), unrestricted dis-
tribution, corresponding to CISPR11, group 1, class B.
Immunity:
Fulfil the requirements for both the first and the second environment according to EN 61 800-3.
Precautions such as extra EMC filters are not required for most of our products but 7.5 kW 2-pole
and 5.5 kW 4-pole MGE-G motors need an EMC filter to fulfil the requirements. The product number
for the EMC filter is: 96041047.
In order to achieve EMC-correct installation, the cable connections to the E-motor should be taken
into consideration. Cable connections are described in 13.2.10 Connections.
13. Installation

13.2.10 Connections
Fig. 45 below shows the connection terminals of
• external potential-free contacts for start/stop
• digital functions
• external setpoint signal
• sensor signal
• GENIbus
• relay signal.
Note: If no external on/off switch is connected, short-circuit terminals 2 and 3 using a short wire.
Note: As a precaution, the wires to be connected to the following connection groups must be
separated from each other by reinforced insulation in their entire lengths:
1. Input/output (external start/stop, digital functions, setpoint and sensor signals, terminals
1-13, and bus connection (optional), terminals B, Y, A).
All inputs (group 1) are internally separated from the mains-conducting parts by reinforced
insulation and galvanically separated from other circuits. All control terminals are supplied
by protective extra-low voltage (PELV), thus ensuring protection against electric shock.
2. Signal relay (terminals NC, C, NO).
The output (group 2) is galvanically separated from other circuits. A maximum supply volt-
age of 250 V or protective extra-low voltage can be connected to the output as desired.
3. Mains supply (terminals L1, L2, L3, PE).
A galvanically safe separation must fulfil the requirements for reinforced insulation including
creepage distances and clearances specified in EN 60 335.

Grundfos complies with the following three rules when determining the sound pressure and power:
1. The sound power is measured according to EN ISO 3743-2.
2. The sound power is converted to a mean sound pressure at 1 m distance from the test ob-
ject by means of EN ISO 11203 - method Q2.
3. To the measurements for both 50 and 60 Hz are added 3 dB according to EN ISO 4871.
This is done in order to include inaccuracies of the measuring instruments and calibration
equipment as well as production tolerances in the products measured.
The sound pressure (Lp) is measured at 1 m distance from the test object at a pressure reference
of 20 μPa, corresponding to 0 dB.
The sound power (LW) is measured at a reference of 1 pW (pico-Watt).
The sound power is a calculating unit and must not be mixed up with the sound pressure even if
both are expressed in dB(A).
(A) expresses the frequency weighting of the sonometer. At low frequencies, i.e. deep tones, the
sensitivity of the sonometer is very much reduced.
The tables on the following pages show the sound pressure and sound power level for MGE motors.
Measurements have been made according to the description in Common Infomation,
section 13. Reports.
The values stated are maximum values including an upper tolerance of 3 dB according to ISO 4871.
In normal operation the sound pressure and sound power levels stated will represent the total level
for both pump and motor.
For more information about sound pressure and sound power levels, see 11.1 Overview of sound
measurement reports.
