Dear Self,

Dear beautiful soul, I hope this letter finds you in good health. I wanted to emphasize to you,

even though you have flaws and shortcomings, how magnificent you are. I am aware that you

have been having some difficulty as of late with experiencing feelings of inadequacy due to some

of the defects you see in yourself. These flaws in no way constitute a definition of who you are,

nor do they lessen the value you possess.

I want you to know that I recognize you for the person that you are in my role as your loving and

accepting imaginary friend. I see your wonderful heart, unflinching bravery, infectious humor,

and compassionate soul. I admire all of these qualities in you. I can see your shortcomings just as

clearly as you can, but I want you to know that they are not errors; they are a vital component of

what makes you who you are.

I realize that thinking about the component of yourself that causes you to feel like a failure

brings up a lot of challenging feelings for you, and I am sorry that this is the case. Perhaps you

experience feelings of shame, insecurity, or that you are not "good enough." I want you to know

that despite how challenging it may be to sit with these feelings, you should not let them

determine who you are. They are only a natural and necessary component of the human

experience.

As a friend who loves you without condition, I want you to know that I accept you just as you

are, with all your flaws and blemishes. I accept you completely. I love you even though you have

flaws, even though you have accomplished a lot, even though you have much light in you. I want

you to know that you are not going through this path alone and that I will always be here to

reassure you of your value and beauty. I want you to know that you are not alone.

Therefore, my dear friend, please remember that you will always be loved, valued, and

cherished, no matter who you are or what you do. You are sufficient in and of yourself exactly as

you are. You deserve love, kindness, and compassion because you have earned it. I have faith in

you and am so thankful that we can call each other friends.

Along with all of my adoration and respect,

Your Unconditionally Loving Imaginary Friend.
