Durood-e Akbar (The Great Holy Benediction) Durood-e Akbar is a celebrated Durood Sharif and the majority of people recite it. This is called Durood-e Akbar because it consists of the beautiful attributive names of Hazrat Sayyiduna Muhammad (salldllahw Tw’ele ‘alayhi wa alihi wa sallam) in a collective form. This Durood Sharif is called Durood-e Akbar owing to its nature and lengthiness. At the end of every sentence, the noble Messenger (sall4iahu Ta'ala ‘alayhi wa alibi wa sallam) is addressed frequently. Therefore, whosoever makes it a (habitual) daily practice to recite this Durood Sharif once (1) either before or after performing the obligatory dawn [Fajr] ritual prayer, then his heart will develop everlasting love for the most majestic Messenger (sallAlahu Ta‘ala ‘alayhi wa alihi wa saltam). And, eventually he will be blessed with seeing the exalted Messenger (swlldilahw To'wla ‘alayhi wa _alihi wa sallam). Thereafter, if one increases the number of recitation (of this _ Durood Sharif) then he will be able to meet the _ most glorious Messenger (sal! 4Meln Tw 'wlaalayhi wa alihi wa sallam). Spiritually, this Durood Sharif is really an emotional interpretation of the lovers of the most noble Messenger of Allah (salldllahu Ta'ala ‘alayhi wo wlihi wa sallam). This is why the reader of this Durood Sharif attains prosperity in this world and in the next, Whosoever wishes to be appreciated as an accepted servant at the sacred Court of the most benevolent Messenger (sal/Allahw Ta'ala ‘alayhi wa alihi wa sallant) and so that others acquire benefit from him, then he should start to practice this Durood Sharif. Thereafter, whatever purpose he directs his attention towards, will be achieved. In order to practice the recital of this Durood Sharif, one must observe seclusion for a period of forty (40) nights and in each night recite this Durood Sharif twenty one (21) times. If Allah (Glory be to Him) Wills, all his lawful desires will be fulfilled. For the purification of the heart, the recitation of this Duroad Sharif only once (1) after the obligatory night ['Isha] ritual prayer is very effective (successful). This Durood Sharif is very beneficial and valuable for the remedy from illnesses. To repel demons and predicaments, one should recite this Durood| Sharif seven (7) times and blow upon some water and feed it to the adversely affected i victim, the demon will be forced to leave. If a certain place is haunted by evil jinns then open that place and recite this Duroed Sharif once (1) for a period of forty one (4 |) days, then the evil jinns will (have to) flee asaresult. To protect oneself from the open Oppression of the oppressors and Judges, one should recite this Durood Sharif once (1) for a period of eleven (11) days consecutively (without missing any days in between the 1] days). If Allah (Exalted is He) Wills, his condition will improve. This Durood Sharif contains numerous victorious (conquering) effects, The reader of this Durood Sharif will never suffer defeat. If one recites this Durood Sharif only once (1) daily after offering the obligatory dawn [Fajr] ritual prayer, his sustenance will be enriched with growth. Whosoever makes it a habitual practice to recite this Durood Sharif three (3) times after the obligatory night [Isha] ritual prayer will have his sins absolved. Numerous Saints [Awliya-Allah] and Gnosties ['Arifin] are reported to have transmitted that whosoever makes it his regular practice to recite this Durood Sharif. Allah (Exalted is He) will Command His angels to record u pon thereader's book of deeds the virtue of one Pilgrimage [Hajj] and one Visitation [Umrah] in exchange for each letter pronounced. Allah (Exalted is He) will cast His Vision of Grace one hundred and sixty (160) times and prepare for him palaces made of rubies, and before he departs from this life he will witness his final abode in paradise. And, when he dies all the angels of the heavens, earth, the Throne and Footstool will assemble and participate in his funeral procession as well as visit his grave and supplicate for his forgiveness. Our Pious Predecessors (may Allah bestow His mercy upon them all) have written that: “Upon a Friday night (known as Thursday night in the West), commence by wearing clean and white clothes, apply perfume and perform two (2) units of optional [Nafl] ritual prayers with extreme respect and great care. Thereafter, recite this Durood Sharif three (3) times and present it to the most glorious Messenger (saliAllahu Ta‘ala ‘alayhiwa alihi wa sallam) Thereafter, with the trueness of one's heart and | with sincerity, cherish an ardent desire to behold the matchless beauty (of all times) of Sayyiduna Muhammad (sw//4/lahw Tir'ale ‘alayhi wa alihi wa sallam), And, fall asleep upon that very place. Continue this exact holy ritual for eleven (11) consecutive (continuing)nights, eventually Allah (Exalted is He) will enable him to see the most honoured Messenger (sal/[Allahu Ta‘ala ‘alayhi wa alihi wa sallam), One must observe the regular obligatory prescribed ritual prayers during the performance of this holy ritual. One will continue to behold the truest Beloved of Allah (sallAllahu Ta‘ala ‘alayhi wa alihi wa sallam) and be blessed.
