Tour operator is an organization, firm, or company who buys individual travel


components, separately from their suppliers and combines them into a package
tour, which is sold with their own price tag to the public directly or through
middlemen, is called a Tour Operator.

A Tour Operator operate the tour by providing package all or most of the
component of an offered trip and then sell them to the travelers. These package
can also be sold through retail outlet or travel agency. The whole process or
activities is called tour operation management.

Management is a process of planning, decision making, organizing, leading,


motivation and controlling the human resources, financial, physical, and
information resources of an organization to reach its goals efficiently and
effectively. Management is a process of getting maximum profit with minimum
effort.

Planning,organizing,staffing, directing, motivating,co ordination,controlling etc


are the components of management .

On the concept of tourism, tour operation also fullfil these management


components .

Planning; tour operator make plan for their tourist or visitor susch as how they
complete their tour.
Organizing; tour operator organize all needs of tourist for fulfillment of a tour
package.

Staffing; large tour operator has different staff like agency at different place in a
country. For complete a tour package ,tour operator take help from different
agencies.

Directing: tour operator give direction to tourist or visitors like need of their
requirements to fullfil a tour package.

Motivating : Tour operator motivate tourists by providing different tour


packages.

Co- ordinating : Tour operator combine all necessary travel product & core
accessories to reach a destination & complete a tour package.

Controlling:Tour operator check the whole tour package as happened their


planned.

As tour operator complete all management work or characteristics by its


function, that’s why tour operator all function combinely is called tour operation
management.
