You are on page 1/ 15

You won't need to download PowerBI to your computer because we will just utilize the online

version of it in Part I: Setup PowerBI Steps to Power BI Desktop.

• Visit the PowerBI website and click "Start free" at the bottom of the page.
When I first started the software, I manually entered the data. The data was subsequently
loaded after I located the dataset. View a screenshot of the data that Power BI has loaded
below. The sales_records_1D file will be loaded. You will see different charts because I used a
different file.
Next, select "Start from scratch" from the drop-down menu by clicking on the
option next to "Create a report" in the drop-down menu.
The variables of the data can be seen in the Fields pane after the file has been loaded.
Creating a Bar Chart
• Now that the data has been loaded, we can begin to visualize and analyze it.
You can utilize the workspace to drag and drop the chart you want to use (we are using a
"clustered column chart"). Because we did not enter the necessary visualization arguments, the
chart is empty. By dragging one of the corner or side brackets, it is simple to resize the chart on
the canvas. Make sure your name is on the worksheet. It can be mentioned in the title.
Drag "Column8" into the X-axis field and "Column12" into the Y-axis field to reposition the
variables.
On the Format tab, click. Go to the Data labels and select "on." By selecting the icon that
resembles a chart with a paintbrush, you may reach the format tab, which is located under
Visualizations.
Creating a Line Chart in Part 3
• Why not include a line chart? Either build a new page or simply add content to the one we
already have. My line graph has been uploaded to the same page.
• Toggle the boxes next to "Column8," "Column2," and "Column11." A table will show up in the
workspace if you haven't clicked on a chart like we did with the bar chart.
To convert the newly formed table to a line chart, just select it and click the "Line Chart" icon
under "Visualizations." Resize the line graph as desired. Consider the layout, font, color, and
other concepts you have learnt about in the course so far. Make at least three modifications to
your line chart by clicking on the line chart and then "Format your Visual" under
"Visualizations." With the legend, I changed it. This line graph is improperly formatted.
Part 4: Use Power BI to create a heat map
• A heatmap application must be added to PowerBI. In the "Build Visual" pane, select
"Visualizations" by clicking the three horizontal dots (A).
• Click "Get more visuals."
After the "Power BI Visuals" page appears, type "heatmap" into the search box (A).
Then select "Heatmap - Weiwei Cui." (B)
Click "Add" once the page has appeared.
When you select "Add," your PowerBI site will load. Click the new application. Your workplace
will receive the new chart.

Select the freshly made chart by clicking on it, and then select the box next to "Postal Code"
under "Fields." As you can see below, the Zip code information has been used to fill in the heat
map.
For a clearer view of the heat map, zoom in. The map can be clicked twice to accomplish this.
Additionally, you'll need to move the map to the location of your analysis.
• You will click on "Renderer" under "Visualizations," under "Format Visual," to make this look
more like a heat map. Play with the heat map and make three adjustments.
Make sure to copy the link and paste it into the Word or PDF document. The link can be
obtained by selecting "Share" from the PowerBI ribbon.
Select "Copy Link" next to "Send."
